POP3 && Folders
I'm sure this has come up on the list before... I have a number of accounts normally only accessed via IMAP, and for this reason, there is a global sieve script for all users (also required for the spam filtering). What this means though, is that ever users has 3-4 set folders, that are forced on. I now have a few users that want to use POP3. Is there a way to make it download all messages,

Shared namespaces - solved
Heh heh heh. Whoops. I've spent a few hours digging around in the source and nearly posted a kludge of a patch I'd written to give a kind of half-baked attempt at getting group-usable subscriptions files. Then I came across something in the source........ In the config file, do something like the following: namespace public { separator = / prefix = Public/ location =

Per-user "Seen" flags with shared namespace stored as maildir?
Hi all, I was wondering if the above was possible. I know that the "seen" flag is stored in the filename, but was wondering if anyone knew of a way to separate it out? I know this would strictly-speaking break maildir compatibility, but it would be extremely useful for shared folders. I've been given the task of replacing the (extremely heavily used) shared folders functionality

Shared namespaces
Hi all, I'm trying to replace the "Public Folders" functionality in Exchange server. At first I thought it'd be something easily do-able with an IMAP server so I immediately thought of Dovecot. I setup what I though would work and things started to go a little screwy with subscription settings and the like. I started off by making a public maildir folder (in

TLS Issues - Plain Text login?
I'm trying to setup IMAP, so that it works via secure connections. I have it working fine over SSL, now I wish to get TLS to work. I have set imap and imaps to both listen on *, and have disable_plaintext_auth = yes, which according to the docs, Disable LOGIN command and all other plaintext authentications unless SSL/TLS is used (LOGINDISABLED capability). So the problem is now, that TLS

BUG: Error: dovecot.index.pvt reset, view is now inconsistent when shared folder is new and empty
Hi, I'm using Dovecot 2.2.33.2 on a RHEL 7, new installation. My log is full of : Error: INDEX_FOLDER/dovecot.index.pvt reset, view is now inconsistent or Error: INDEX_FOLDER/dovecot.index.pvt view is inconsistent when shared folder is never touched and empty. UserA share XXXXX folder with UserB, if XXXXX folder is new (never touched) and empty every time UserB looks in that folder, an

Maildir migration - using separate INDEX and CONTROL directories?
Hi all, I'm working on a migration from Courier to Dovecot, and the courier-dovecot-migrate.pl seems to work ok, but it puts all the metadata files (dovecot-uidlist etc) in the Maildir, while I want to put them in the appropriate places as specified: mail_location = maildir:~/Maildir:INDEX=/var/mail/meta/index/%d/%1n/%1.1n/%n:CONTROL=/var/mail/meta/control/%d/%1n/%1.1n/%n

LDA Questions
Firstly, if you're out of quota for example, and using postfix, will it need to send a bounce email, or will it do the out of quota error at SMTP time? (preferred) Also, I want a global sieve script to run first, REGARDLESS if the user has their own script. # If there is no user-specific Sieve-script, global Sieve script is # executed if set. #global_script_path = This suggests to me,

(1.2.11): Confused about shared/public folders
hi, i red several hours a lot of documentation (wiki, Blogs, lists ...) how to get public folders. Under cyrus it is very easy. Create a mbox on the top with cyradm and some acls. Nothing more ... All i want is: public/info public/group/internal public/foo public/foo/bla on info, everybody can read on group/internal - only group has full access to internal public/foo/bla - read write for

Shared folder subscriptions
Hello! I have this shared folder: namespace public { separator = / prefix = Public/ location = maildir:/var/mail/public } It is accessible for all users in a specific group (mode 770, umask 0007). Users in that group should always be subscribed to all subfolders, so I did not use a different CONTROL for each user. All of our IMAP users were in that group, until now. I added a

Samba + ACL - Heading OT
Automated update system supplied with Fedora. Kinda like the RHN, but free and more up to date version-wise, but without the package checking done by Redhat. If you're running Fedora and it's installed, typing "yum update <package name>" will update a package to the latest version on your downloads site (it defaults to download.fedora.redhat.com), yum install <package

I believe if your samba server is a member in one of the workgroups and there is a trust relationship between it and the other workgroup then you can configure samba to allow from the other workgroup in effect serving both workgroups. What version am I running
Hi all, This is probably a silly question, but is there an easy way to get the dovecot executable to report it's version number? Net rpc shutdown
Hi all, I'm trying to make a script that will shut down a couple of Windows boxes from a Linux machine with Samba. If I use "net rpc shutdown -I <windows-ip> -U administrator" it works fine, except that I get prompted for the password. After looking through "man net" I can't seem to find a way to include the password (I tried "-U

Probably a bad idea but.....
Hi all, I've got a few users I'm trying to migrate from a Mercury Mail server to a dovecot IMAP/POP3 setup. I was hoping to use some sort of imap-copy type script to move email from the Mercury server to dovecot server, but the Mercury box is running so slow it's impossible. Mercury stores mail in a similar way to Maildirs, different folders with separate files for each mail, stored

LDA Wishlist idea
Hi all, Sorry if this is out of place, but I've seen people suggesting future functionality for Dovecot on here before. TBH I'm not completely sure if this would be possible in a LDA. Demon (an ISP) have extensions to POP3 they call "SDPS" - there's basically an extra command that can be called for an email and it gives the envelope rcpt and from addresses. I was

lazy_expunge and shared folders
Hi, since migration to Dovecot 2.2 I have troubles with lazy_expunge as soon as a user shares a folder. The user the folder is shared to cannot login anymore, dovecot logs Fatal: lazy_expunge: Unknown namespace: '.EXPUNGED/' - When no folder is shared lazy_expunge is working fine, deleted mails are moved to the expunged namespace and can be recovered without any problems. - Sharing

Marking with firewall
Hi all, I''ve been trying to do the above and read everything I can find on Google on the subject, but something seems to be going wrong. I tried the following sample rules in iptables (initially I just set the first one, but I added more as my desperation escalated): iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -p icmp -j MARK --set-mark 1 iptables -A FORWARD -p icmp -j MARK --set-mark 1
