Help, problems with permissions
Hi
I am replacing my current mail system, using Exim/Postgres/WU-IMAP to
another host using Dovecot.
Everything has gone well, until I have tried to access some test mails
via POP.
The error message I am getting is

Plain Authentication - Outlook not working
Hi
I have just upgraded a mail server from dovecot-0.99 to stable
(dovecot-1.0.59).
My normal desktop email client, kmail is working fine, but outlook keeps
producing PLAIN authentication errors, and refusing to authenticate.
From dovecot.log, I can see
dovecot: Mar 13 10:57:30 Error: auth(default): sql(<xxxxxxxMy

Fatal: setgid from userdb lookup fails with wrong gid
Hello all,
I'm quite new as well to Dovecot, just installed it on a FreeBSD system
with Postfix and Rspamd as side apps. Things are running semi-smoothly
for all users but I do have quite a few errors in the logs :

Fatal: setgid from userdb lookup fails with wrong gid
Hi,
Not sure if this is it, but I used to have the same error when I started
with dovecot.
Aki's response was the following (and solved my problem).

Hi!
You can't set
service imap {
service_count = 256
}
if you are using multiple system UIDs. See
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Services#imap.2C_pop3.2C_submission.2C_managesieve
*service_count* can be changed from 1 if only a

network design - taking advantage of samba+openldap
In the headquarter of my Institution we have some 300 windows PCs,
distributed like this:

80 clients to be joined to domain2

ISC's dhcp server, radvd and bind9 now adding samba as an AD DC
Hi,
Why modifying a working conf when you can build your DC on others systems
(VM)? That could be really nice to learn but you add a lot of complexity in
your process, I think.
Why not using DLZ to access your AD zones? I expect Bind to be able to mix
its behaviour: flat file for some zone, DLZ for others...
Now regarding:
update-policy {

Winbindd and Domain local groups
Hi,
I have been trying to use Winbindd in SLES 11 SP3 (Samba version 3.6.3-17.25.1) to fetch AD (Windows 2008 R2) identities into the Linux box and currently running into some problem w.r.t domain local groups and thought I could get some help here..
I have a two domain setup, in which DOMAIN1 is the parent domain and DOMAIN2 is the child domain. I have 2 users DOMAIN1\user1, DOMAIN2\user2 and

I don't wish to store identity locally in any of the servers. As far

I had left my config alone for now and dhcp still writes to

to write to bind in its zone.

ISC's dhcp server, radvd and bind9 now adding samba as an AD DC
So I had dhcp, radvd and bind working together nicely and now I threw in a
wrench of setting up an AD DC
I want to change my dhcp server setting to put client's into the new AD
Domain but am a little hesitant as it is all working so nicely with DDNS
I'm starting to think all I need to do is edit just my dhcpd.conf and
change occurrences of DOMAIN1.SUBDOMAIN.TLD to

Samba 3.0.2x with trusted domains.
Hello all,
we have a samba server on a SLES9 linux box. It is connected to an active
directory with multiple trusted domains.
With this server, we have strange problems with users/groups in others
domains. The users/groups listed in smb.conf that are part of trusted
domains are not take in account to access the shares. We cannot as well
set ACL correctly on filesystem.

I'm able to consistently reproduce this problem/behavior, but not
workaround or fix it, yet.
