Polycom getting DCHP address from wrong VLAN
Hello,
I have been tearing my hair out on this issue for 2 days, any help
would be appreciated.
We have a normal network and a Cisco SGE2010P switch - a 48 port PoE switch
There are two VLANs, 1(data) & 50(VoIP). When Polycoms are connected
to the switch with VLAN 50 hard coded in the config they grab a DHCP
address from VLAN 1, the PVID for the switch port.
The ports have membership in

Supermicro X7DVL-E and Xeon L5320 installation problems
Tearing our hair out on this one. Trying to install CentOS 5 x86_64
on a Supermicro X7DVL-E with 2 Xeon L5320 quad core CPUs, 3Ware SATA
RAID controller in a mirrored setup and 4 GB of memory. Installation
crashes at random places while copying the files. We've run
memtest86 for 24 hours without any errors, replaced the RAID
controller, motherboard and disks, but still no luck.

save.image() error reappears
A week or so ago, I reported a problem on my new Windows XP box getting R
1.4.1 and R 1.5.0 (development from BDR's site) to save the .RData file
upon program exit. Specifically, either clicking on the "X" in the GUI or
invoking q() from the command line produced the following error:
Error in save.image(name) : image could not be renamed and is left in

Outlook and roaming profiles?
Hi list,
I'm trying to migrate from a workgroup based Samba server to a domain based
Samba server.
I need the following features
- Roaming profiles
- LDAP based user administration / authentication
I think the LDAP part is mostly doable, though I do foresee some hair
tearing, but my main concern is with the roaming profiles.
Users do not have a fixed workstation and log-on to whichever

Streaming Music On Hold
Ok, I'm tearing my hair out trying to get Asterisk moh streaming to work. After several hours jerking around with icecast and muse, I tried to point my asterisk system directly at two streams I know work.
This is what extensions.conf has:
[default]
mode=quietmp3
directory=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3
[stream2]
mode=custom
directory=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3-empty

Are folder redirection and offline files mutually exclusive?
Been tearing my hair out trying to find out if redirecting my user's automounted home folder is killing offline files availability.
We are just now migrating our windows users to win7 (school, limited funding), and while I've got folder redirection working, I also need to make sure offline files work as well for my mobile users.
What smb.conf settings are required that will fix this

Mounting smb
Hi, I noticed your message in the digest and I'm having the same
problem. I can get into my Win98 machine use smbclient, but I want to
mount the drive in /mnt. But when I go to do that, it whines about
client names and the like. Have you managed to do it? If so, can you let
me know how as I'm almost tearing my hair out here!

Installing Windows apps ( Mandrake 8 / Codeweavers wine)
I've been tearing hair out for days over this stuff ... hopefully someone
here can enlighten me further.
I've managed to get wine to the stage where it appears to be installed as
per the codeweaver site .... have tried both the "fake_windows" & windows
partition methods, but in both cases when I try running any windows
application installer it bombs out within seconds,

Mongrel, Apache 2.2, Rails question. HELP!
Sorry to bother you with a Rails "newbie"-like question, but I have been
tearing my hair out for a couple of days with the deployment scenario I am
trying to setup. I use a service provider that supports multiple domains via
Virtual Hosts. I have all the software installed and "working". I want to
deploy two apps under my domain and have the following in my .conf file:

rjs woes, any hints?
I''ve pared my rjs experiment down to what seems a bare minimum. When I click
on my link_to_remote, the rjs executes, returns the correct javascript to
the browser, but it doesn''t update the div I''ve specified. What appears to
be coming back from the controller is:
Element.update("my_form", "hello, rjs");
I''m tearing my hair out.

SYSLINUX doing odd things since upgrade
Hello list!
I'm tearing my hair out over this. I have a USB flash drive that has been
working nicely with SYSLINUX for about a year, and I have upgraded
SYSLINUX on it a couple of times during that period with no ill effects -
including a complete format/re-install from scratch.
However, on Friday I was using this drive (and it was working) and I
decided to upgrade to the latest version
