Digium vs. Sangoma
I don't mean to be a troll in any way shape or form. I was on IRC last night and I observed the following convo. below. What do you guys make of it ? [02:14] <bkw__> Let me tell you how chidlish digium and Mark Spencer is. I walk into a restaurant with them all here at Astricon wearing my sangoma shirt and he asked me to leave. different auth configuration for pop and imap
Hi there, Firstly, thanks for the great software. I am just wondering if it is possible to configure dovecot to use different authentication configurations for the imap and pop processes. Specifically, I am looking to use a different SQL query for each process. Kind regards, Roger -- ------------------------------------------------------------- Ninth Avenue Software p:

Problem in dovecot 0.99 - login username case sensitive create fake maildirs
Hello, I have noticed a weird behaviour in dovecot 0.99 which, I hope, is not replicated in 1.0-alpha. First I have to say that it works very well. So if I login with user foo at bar.com, the maildir is created. But when I log in with User FOO at BAR.COM, or FOO at BAR.com, then two other maildirs are created. Authentication is ok (I'm using mysql backend) but no mails are obviously

pop/imap & smtp auth installation with just one userdb
Hi First of all thanks to the authors of dovecot. It's a pleasure to work with it. I would like to ask, if somebody has an idea about how I can combine all mailusers (dovecot pop/imap & sendmail smtp) into one db, given that I'd like to use sasl with CRAM-MD5 as authentication mechanism to ensure security. The idea behind my question is, that it is easier to administer all mail

Separate auth for pop and imap
Hi. Is it possible to set up separate authentication backends for POP and IMAP for a single Dovecot instance? Or does this require two separate dovecot instances with separate config files? Specifically, I want to have one database query for IMAP and one for POP so that I can let these be separate features that I can flag in a database. -- Daniel Mikkelsen Copyleft Software AS

Cannot get plaintext auth working on IMAP or POP
Server: Ubuntu 9.04 desktop edition Dovecot 1.1.11 Issue: I have set dovecot.conf with: disable_plaintext_auth = no but everytime I have a client (Windows Live Mail, ubuntu evolution) connect from the Internet, I have the following type of message: Plaintext authentication disallowed on non-secure (SSL/TLS) connections. in my mail.log, I have: Jul 28 15:09:43 "name" dovecot:

Dovecot Migration: Retrieving/Logging POP/IMAP Passwords in Plaintext
Hi List I'm currently in the process of migrating my dovecot imap/pop users to a new server and have to extract their passwords in order to import them into the new system (different password encryption schemes). I've tried enabling auth_* debug parameters in my dovecot.conf in the hope that this would result in logging plaintext passwords to the dovecot log. However dovecot does not log

feature request: pipe for custom quota dict queries
Just a followup to my previous post. I appears that a pipe for quota queries via dict is not supported right now. Because of the way we group things we need more flexibility. I'd like to propose that dovecot should support quota queries just like userdb dict queries. My expertise is not C, but I might try to poke around and see if I can make something work. ...Jeff

Sweave tokens not in column 1: enhancement request
When I re-use a code chunk in Sweave, together with keep.source=TRUE, I would like to follow usual programming conventions in which the amount of white space on the left indicates logical structure. It seems that one can't do this in Sweave, or am I wrong? for (i in ind) { do such-and-such and then <<code chunk 20>> do something-else } Sweave will say that << is

Feature Request: Auto-infer .includes from .where with ActiveRecord queries
In the following snippet, can''t the includes being inferred from the where clause? Order.includes(:items).where(:items => { :category => [1,2,3] }) Can''t the includes be inferred from the where clause? Order.where(:items => { :category => [1,2,3] }) Would this conflict with any existing usages of the where clause and hashes? -- You received this

pop-before-smtp in SQL?
I need pop-before-smtp (let's not discuss the advisability of the method), but I'm annoyed at the inefficiency of the classical perl script that parses the logs. A long time ago I modified the perl to add the tuple (IP, time) to an SQL table that the MTA looks at, and to clean up periodically. I found that this was the best way to deal with multiple servers that have to share an SQL

imap-login director is not restarted after each auth request
Hi imap-login by default in mail server is restarted after every login request keeping security in mind to avoid leak of critical data. But in a director config, the imap-login director process is not restarted on each auth request. Can somebody explain why this design decision is taken? -- Kalyanasundaram http://blogs.eskratch.com/ https://github.com/kalyanceg/ -------------- next part

Different PROXY for IMAP and POP3 using LDAP-auth
-------------------------------------------------- For all non german speaking people: Oliver asked: In an old posting I've read something about different proxy hosts for IMAP and POP3. http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2008-July/031885.html I've got the same problem and want to ask you, if there is a patch for replacing [variable names in] pass_attrs.

Feature request - statistics for the COMPRESS imap protocol
Unless I have failed to read the manual for the second time in two days (?), it doesn't seem to be possible to get COMPRESS statistics at logout time from the IMAP protocol? Assuming not, then can I make a feature request that this might become available in some future version (pretty please?) Can I also just check that the meaning (as of today) of the "imap logout" statistics

feature request: IMAP passdb prefetch
It'd be useful for us if the IMAP passdb could be used as a prefetch userdb. The remote IMAP server could respond with something like * OK key=value * OK key=value SEQ OK [CAPABILITY ...] Logged in. Or * OK <some JSON key value pairs> SEQ OK [CAPABILITY ...] Logged in. Would anyone else find this useful?

Seeking help constructing SQL Queries from search pages with many optional attributes
For a recent project I had to construct an advanced search page with some ranges and some select boxes, all of which are optional. The difficulty came in figuring out a way to construct a proper SQL query from the options provided. I hacked one together that works for the time being, but I would like to know how this is done properly. Does anyone have any links to references where this is

Webrick not showing sql queries any more?
Hi all, I updated rails to 1.1.2, and somehow, when I run script/server on a new rails project, I don''t see the sql queries in the console any more... It was very useful to see them live... Does any one have any idea why? Thank you very much! Nauhaie -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

custom sql queries beyond CRUD
Hi, I am just starting of in rails. I am trying to understand the features of rails and I have this burning question. (and search is not available now): Apart from relying on the automatic CRUD sql script produced, is there a way I can create my own sql script ex: with many joins between exixting tables (for reporting ). All I need is to declare the custom query and place the result in a
