attr_names in test67
Hello, I'm wondering if the following situation is valid (though I think it isn't since I still cannot authenticate with ldap pass/userdb on test67 running on FreeBSD-5.3). Is it normal that the passdb_ldap_conn->attr_names second element (for instance) "turns to" "homeDirectory" as the following step by step gdb run sample shows ? : -- Breakpoint 1,

possible bug with mail->get_header and caching?
I don't know if this is intended or not, but here it comes. I have * that copy plugin I was working on * dovecot 1.0-test59 * thunderbird test client My copy plugin looks for the X-DSPAM-Signature header line, and reports it to syslog as such: imap: we have a signature: "X-DSPAM-Signature: <sig>" where <sig> is replaced by what is found in the header line. test67 ldap_connection
Hello, I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with authentication against an ldap pass/user db with test67 as test62 was working fine. [ The problem is the same as previously described in this list : - FreeBSD-5.3 - dovecot-1.0-test67 - openldap-2.1.27 --> "ldap(dovetest,127.0.0.1): No password in reply" --> "NO Temporary authentication failure." or --

Dovecot response to "FETCH" command
Hi folks. I just converted my site from UW+mbox to dovecot+maildir (stable-test59, 2005/02/25). For the most part, everything is great. The server seems faster and less memory intense than the UW server (this part has made me very happy). And it's definitely more user friendly to me than Courier. There is one thing however... A few of my users are using the web based mail reader

Norton IS preventing Samba workgroup from appearing in W2K browse
I know this isn't a samba configuration issue, but I'm hoping someone might have encountered this problem before and knows the solution. I just installed a Buffalo LinkStation (Linux Samba NAS) on my network and was atempting to set up a shared printer. I have three systems. All are W2K. One uses BlackICE, the others use Norton Internet Security 2004. All of the systems, including the

dovecot-stable: NIL from in envelope request
Using the latest dovecot-stable (20050213) with pine, I get an empty "from" header in my e-mails. This doesn't happen with 1.0.59-test, nor did it happen with the first dovecot-stable (20050131). A partial connection log is below: 1.0-test59: IMAP DEBUG 15:23:32 2/13: 00000007 FETCH 1:41 (UID ENVELOPE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS (Newsgroups Content-MD5 Content-Disposition

Cannot cross-compile 3.0.20b from i686 to mipsel
Hi. I'm trying to compile 3.0.20b on my i686 host to run on a mipsel host. For this, I got a cross compile toolchain from <http://linkstationwiki.org/Projects/CrossToolchains>. The toolchain is installed at /usr/local/linkstation/gcc-3.3.5-glibc-2.3.2/mipsel-hdhlan-linux I ran configure with the help of a little wrapper script: version=gcc-3.4.4-glibc-2.3.5

1.0-stable update
Just a note, I backported some larger mbox changes from 1.0-test67. Hopefully works, but if you're going to try it test it well first :) Should fix some issues related to X-IMAP/X-IMAPbase header handling and maybe some other mbox related problems as well. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... compact folders, expunge, etc
Test58 and test59 breaks "compact folders" and "expunge" in thunderbird and evolution. Messages marked for deletion just sit there as if compacting folders or expunging have no effect. Thunderbird continues to behave erratically with dovecot test builds. I haven't been able to test the imap_client_workarounds=tb-negative-fetch option yet as I'm still running test52.

Filenames with "special" characters (äöü€¶) on SMB share of Linkstation HD-HLAN250
Hello! I've got a Buffalo Linkstation HD-HLAN250. This is a consumer NAS device, which makes the built-in HD accessible via SMB and FTP. On that system, some sort of Linux with some sort of Samba is running. I'm now trying to create filenames with special characters (ie. non-ASCII chars) in it. For example "bl?der name" (means "stupid name"). To get access to the

master/config rewrite
I've finally got it to work, kind of .. It should allow you to log in, but several settings don't work yet and there are probably many bugs. Anyway, I thought I'd show this already in case someone is interested of looking how it works :) One thing I'm still wondering a bit is if I should show process names as: 32602 pts/19 S 0:00 dovecot/config 32603 pts/19 S

Previous versions of samba or how to disable NTML2 authentication
If I run apt-get install samba, this only seems to retrieve the latest version of samba. How do I retrieve an earlier version of samba? Alternatively, how do I disable NTMLv2 on my Linux PC? The settings in the link below work for Windows 7 and I can access my Terastation again from Windows 7, but how do I do this on a Linux PC (Ubuntu 14.04)?

2 TB limit on a samba share
I'm running a server with Centos 3 that I have set up a smbfs share to a Buffalo LinkStation. The LS has 4 drives configured with RAID 5. Each disk has 1 TB capacity, so the resulting drive is approximately 2.7 TB. When doing a df, the result shows 2 TB, and no used blocks. Is there some setting I can change so that Centos sees and uses all 2.7 TB or does Centos 3 not support this? Steve

smbcquotas tells me that "quotas are not enabled"
I have a setup of Ubuntu 8.04 running Samba 3.0.28a. Connected to our network I have a buffalo linkstation acting as Network Attached Storage (NAS), which I have successfully mounted on the local file system. Using smbcquotas I believe I can set up a quota for each user on the NAS. To get started, I run the command: smbcquotas //192.168.1.4/share -S FSQFLAGS:QUOTA_ENABLED -A

Slow browsing
Hi, I have recently set up an old machine as a linux fileserver (Intel 815E board with 512MB ram and PIII 800mhz). I am running the latest Fedora Core 5 with the version of samba 3 that ships with that and am exposing a single share for my software raid (4x400gb PATA seagate drives, running from two siig ATA cards so each drive has its own channel) I also have a buffalo 1.0tb terastation

Postfix + dovecot-auth
I wrote a patch to Postfix which now supports SMTP AUTH using dovecot-auth. This time it doesn't need any Dovecot libraries and it's backwards compatible with Cyrus SASL by default. You'll just need to set one variable in Postfix config file to enable it. Patches and instructions in: http://dovecot.org/patches/postfix/ Not very well tested yet though. And it doesn't work with
