upsd problem with NUT 2.6.1
Hi,
I've had NUT 2.6.1 on OpenIndiana working with a Tripp-Lite
ECO550. I've been playing around with the config files a
little bit, and I must have done something that messed up
the demon. I now get

Strange behaviour with moving mail
Hi All,
Sorry to bother you again. I am not too familiar with IMAP yet, so maybe I am
asking stupid questions. Here goes anyway:
In our (Dovecot 1.0-stable) setup, we have two namespaces: the default
namespace, which location is '/var/mailstore/1%u/%u' and the "Mailstorage"
namespace, which location is '~/.Mailstorage/'.
Now we create a folder called 'Test' in

Too many open files, etc.
Hello,
a few days ago I switched out UW-server installation to
dovecot 0.99.14 (Solaris 9). There were a few client issues,
but mostly the migration was ok.
But I have still some questions/problems:
+) dovecot-auth: ... PAM: pipe() failed: Too many open files
I increased the max. number of open files. Is this normal
behaviour, that more than 512 open files are needed ?
+) we're using mbox

upds crash with 'Out of memory'
Hello,
I am trying to get nut running on a Windows 2012 R2 server (x64). I am
using the MSI release of 2.6.5-3. The attached UPS is an APC xs1500 (model
bx1500g). The connection is an RJ45 to USB cable.
Here is my ups.conf:
[xs1500]
driver = usbhid-ups
port = auto
desc = "APC Back-UPS xs1500"
The problem I am encountering is upsd crashing with an 'Out of memory'
error. I can

New UPS Support: Eaton 5S 1000
I've used NUT successfully for monitoring many different brands of UPS, but
this one has me stumped. It has the same manufacturer ID and Product ID as
older supported MGE-type Eaton UPS's, but has trouble talking. I tried
Ubuntu's repo NUT, and it logs a Connecting to UPS message every few
seconds forever, but never really succeeds (or says it fails). Different

best practises for mail systems
hello!
Can someone point me to some best practices in building high-available scalable mail system or! share your own success stories.
I've read article in LJ "Building a Scalable High-Availability E-Mail System with Active Directory and More"
but it seemed to be outdated and there's a single point of failure (Master node).
What I want to achieve:

I am not sure why they are not listed on the main download page, but there are actually three Windows MSI releases after that:

OS X-centricities? Too many files, temp, indexes, etc...
I'm just writing to see if anyone else is seeing the following issues,
and particularly if they are running OS X (especially 10.4), and/or have
compatible solutions (I've been reading the mailing list quite a bit,
and every now and then, I find a solution that just "doesn't work"
because of the differences in OS:

RAID1+md concat+XFS as mailstorage
Hello!
somewhere in maillist I've seen RAID1+md concat+XFS being promoted as mailstorage.
Does anybody in here actually use this setup?
I've decided to give it a try,
but ended up with not being able to recover any data off survived pairs from linear array when _the_first of raid1 pairs got down.
thanks!

Help 2.2.5 causing me to run out of filedescriptors
I've been running Samba & Squid on a RH linux server for years. I'm
currently running:
kernel - 2.4.9-31
squid - 2.4STABLE-6
/home - 100 GB Reiserfs partition
I just upgraded samba from 2.0.10 to 2.2.5 this morning. Now, the server is
running out of filedescriptors. I have never had this problem before. What
is 2.2.5 doing differently? How can I resolve this problem? Please help,

Performance-Tuning
Hi,
I have > 11 TB hard used Mailstorage, saved als maildir in ext3 on HP EVA.
I always wanted to make some mesurements about several influences to the
performance (switch to ext4, switch to mdbox), but I never had enough time
to do that.
At the moment I *need* more speed, we have too much waitI/O on the system
and I already used all other performance and tuning-tricks (separated cache,

Postfix and Samba best practice
Hi,
We have a server which is going to be a Samba file server and a Postfix
server where the users will access their mail over IMAP.
We normally prefer to use Maildir storage as it seems to be recommended
over mailbox - for me, for example, I am subscribed to a dozen or so
lists and have tens if not hundreds of thousands of emails on the
server. The combination of Postfix and Courier-imap
