IMAP subscribe/unsubscribe broken in 0.99.10.2
IMAP subscribe/unsubscribe is broken in 0.99.10.2 (and earlier releases), specifically subsfile_set_subscribed(), where the logic is all wrong. I tried just copying over the latest subscription-file.c but it has dependencies on some file locking/dotlocking stuff that 0.99.10.2 doesn't have. Timo, would it be possible to incorporate the latest subscription-file.c into 0.99.10.3 (whenever

Performance issue
Hi, I suspect a CPU bottleneck in one of our PostgreSQL servers but not sure how to confirm the suspect. It's a DELL Box running CentOS 5.4 with 64GB RAM and 16 XEON E7430 2.13 GHz processors. vmstat r column "run queue" usually indicates values higher than 2 and less than 5 but "Load Average" values from top, sar -q and other commands show always values less than 1.

PATCH: CRAM-MD5 for Dovecot
Hi Timo, Mozilla 1.5 doesn't understand DIGEST-MD5; it only speaks CRAM-MD5 or PLAIN. Maybe other clients have the same problem. My users like Mozilla, so I wrote new code for Dovecot to speak CRAM-MD5, using your mech-digest-md5.c as a reference. Attached diff in two formats i) for current CVS ii) against last release both tested and working with Mozilla and KMail's CRAM-MD5. I

Plain and MD5 passwd for the same user?
Hello, I'm running dovecot 1.0-0_12.beta8. Since I have only a very small number of user on that server, I have their names and password in text files, no databases. imap works both via webmail and via Kmail Is it possible to have, for the same user, a plain unencrypted password when connecting via imap on the local interface (needed, as I understand it, to be squirrelmail compatible) and a

Plain Authentication - Outlook not working
Hi I have just upgraded a mail server from dovecot-0.99 to stable (dovecot-1.0.59). My normal desktop email client, kmail is working fine, but outlook keeps producing PLAIN authentication errors, and refusing to authenticate. From dovecot.log, I can see dovecot: Mar 13 10:57:30 Error: auth(default): sql(<xxxxxxxMy Detailsxxxxxxxxxxx>): Password query must return a field named

Support for Kmail maildir format
Has anyone looked into providing support in dovecot for Kmail folders? I would like to make my Kmail folders (on my main desktop system) available to my other systems (including over a VPN when I am travelling). Kmail is my main mail program and I have a lot of mail in a lot of folders, so I don't want to set up a separate IMAP service and move all the mail and folders. Kmail's use

DIGEST-MD5 doesn't work
Hi, my dovecot installation works since months and clients authenticate using CRAM-MD5. But today I got the first chance to test an client that supports DIGEST-MD5 - and it doesn't work. Because of lack of other supporting clients and servers I'm now at the point I don't know which side is to blame. The error I get after the client answers the servers challenge is "-ERR

PATCH: mysql authentication
Here's another patch. This one isn't much different from the last patch, except it tries a little harder to make sure that the required fields are returned by the query (like the pgsql module does). One question about how t_strdup works. How and who should memory returned by t_strdup be freed? My patch has a function my_get_str() which returns the value of t_strdup, and then I do

How to get additional packages? How secure is Yum?
Hello, I'm coming from Slackware and I'm searching for another distribution to run on my desktop and in near future also on a server. The *top priority* for me is security! I've test-installed CentOS on one of my test systems. So far anything went OK. After trying a bit, I would like to ask some questions: - What is the suggested way to get *secure and trusted* additional packages?

Implementing a flac-decoder in VHDL
Hello, my name is Axel Reimer and I am new to this mailing list. I subscribed because I was just thinking about how hard it would be to implement a flac-decoder in VHDL (in order to use it on a Xilinx-FPGA). Since I am working at a University in Germany I was thinking of offering this project for students. What do you think. How much time would you suggest for such an implementation (if only

Can the hole, fixed in latest libvorbis version, be triggered via webradio?
Hello, I'm talking about the following hole: http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2009-2663 In Slackware 12.2, so far, the current libvorbis version is still 1.2.0. My question is: I don't use ".OGG" files, but I regularly listen to a OGG webstream. Am I secure in this situation or could a corrupted webstream trigger the discussed bug? Thanks in advance Yours

Import from Evolution
I need to import the mail database generated by the evolution mail reader into dovecot. Evolution stores its mail in maildir format (fully standards compatible, I think); I would be using the maildir format in dovecot. Is there anything in the wiki, etc. explaining exactly how to do this? Why do this? Evolution is hopelessly broken, and is not likely to be fixed in the forseeable future, and

Nested lists and blank lines
I have recently begun using Markdown + PHP Md Extra + SmartyPants in the Symphony XML-based CMS. I'm not sure if this is a Symphony question, or one that can be answered here. I hope someone will tell me. :) I've done my best to find an answer in the online documentation, but drawn a blank. When I use nested lists -- it doesn't matter whether <ol> or <ul>, there is always

Shared Mailboxes (symlink) and kmail: known issues?
Hi, are there any known issues with symlinked-shared-mailboxes and kmail? I use virtual users (LDAP), so there are no unix-permissions related problems here: all mailboxes are owned by the local user vmail. Each user maildir has some symlinks to shared mailboxes. This works fine if I use squirrelmail as a MUA. kmail instead seems to have some problems: if I save a mail into the
