Any good conferences this year about ruby/rspec/watir?
Hello. Sorry for this little offtopic question, but I was wondering if anyone happens to know if there''s any good conferences coming up about rspec or ruby or watir in this year where I could attend to? Or any good website where such things are listed or something similar. All suggested conferences should not take place before one month from now (employer needs some time to get good

[rspec] http://rspec.info examples are broken
It seems that some examples at http://rspec.info are broken with invalid html. For example: http://rspec.info/documentation/before_and_after.html All those spans there should not be visible, I think :) Isn''t rspec.info web tested well enough? :P Best regards, Jarmo

[Rspec] How do you nest before(:all) or after(:all) blocks?
Hi all, I''m new to Rspec but loving it so far and looking to use it as a replacement for a Test::Unit framework I have which drives a web app via Watir. So far, things have worked very well with Rspec but I can''t get my head around how before/after(:all) blocks would work in nested groups, or even if what I am doing is possible. What I want to do is something like this:

Testing for cross site scripting, etc.
Being new to testing and ruby, are there "standard" tests that can be done that test for things like cross site scripting and friends? If not, anyone have ideas on what I might do about testing those sorts of things? I''ll be using rails, also. RSpec 0.9.4
RSpec 0.9.4 has just been released. Gems haven''t rsync''ed around the globe yet, so you might have to wait a few hours to install it. The big news this time is Spec::Ui 0.2.0, which has been released along with RSpec core. This RSpec extension gives you custom Watir matchers (custom Selenium-RC matchers are not implemented yet). Moreover, it comes with a custom KICK ASS formatter

Assertions for asynchronous behaviour
Hi all, In GOOS[1] they use an assertion called assertEventually which samples the system for a success state until a certain timeout has elapsed. This allows you to synchronise the tests with asynchronous code. Do we have an equivalent of that in the Ruby / RSpec world already? I know capybara has wait_until { } but that''s fairly rudimentary - the failure message isn''t very

UI testing framework? (w/o selenium)
Hey all, I am currently working on coming up w/ an easy to use, developer-centric web testing framework to test a J2EE app with. (I have 3 rails apps in production, love rspec, and am currently at a java shop). I''ve looked at selenium, and it just doesn''t seem like it is ready for prime time, and the target audience is developers. So, having said that, does the rspec

Clicking on links within facebook iframes (facebook apps)
Hello, I have a problem with clicking on the links in facebook apps due to iframes. I am trying to write a little script to run through the funwall app. I used IE Dev toolbar to get the name of the id of the iframe (those iframes how no name attribute). So I run this command: $ie.frame(:id, "app2378983609_fb_frame").link(:text, ''View this post'').click And I get

Default exclude pattern in 0.9.0
The "rspec" rake task collects all _spec files in the spec directory, and excludes the "watir" directory. Is this indicating a preference for using Watir over Selenium? I would like it better to standardize on something more neutral, ''ui'' perhaps? /Marcus -- Marcus Ahnve http://marcus.ahnve.net

Reusing story snippets
I find myself doing this: Scenario "logged in user visiting the home page" do Given "A logged in user" do a_logged_in_user end When "..." Then "..." end The a_logged_in_user method is a helper method in helper.rb which sets up the state so that the user can browse the website. Later in the story of course, I can just do ''Given

How to use different mocking frameworks?
Hi, I''m pretty new to Rspec, so hope someone can help me out with this. I''m leveraging a couple pre-existing applications in my current project, both have fairly robust test suites in Rspec already. However, one is using Rspec''s builit in mocking, and the other is using mocha. If I set config.mock_with mocha in spec_helper.rb, then all of the rspec mocks fail. If I

How to find/open Spec::Expectations and Spec::Matchers
Hi, Then RSpec 1.4 recommends, in the webpage http://rspec.info/documentation/expectations.html, referencing the subject items. I''m running ruby 1.8.6 (2007-09-24 patchlevel 111) [i386-mswin32] over WinXP-Pro/SP2. I believe I installed RSpec with a Ruby gem. At least, I think that''s confirmed because I have a lot of stuff in the directory K:\_Utilities

Functionnal testing : Watir vs Selenium
Hello, I wonder if some of you have evaluated these two solutions and how they compares each other. What did you liked or disliked ? And may be are you aware of others functionnal testing tools usable with and integrated with Ruby ? Thanks -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
