Sweave, Texshop, and sync with included Rnw file
Hello everyone.
I am in the process of writing a book in Latex with Texshop, on Mac.
This book contains a lot of R code, hence the need to use Sweave.
I was able to compile Rnw files, and to sync back and forth from the pdf to the source Rnw.
My problem now is that the book is divided in Chapters, and every chapter is in its own Rnw file.
I can compile them from the main one (book.Rnw) using the

Textwrangler Languages Folder
Dear R Community,
I recently switched to a Mac (10.6.5), and have installed Textwrangler to
run code to R. However, I can't install the syntax highlighting file because
I can't find the directory: "~Users/username/Library/Application
Support/TextWrangler/Language Modules/". Is there a different location I can
place the syntax highlighting file?

Coda, Textwrangler, Writeroom, OS X
Hello Everyone,
Has anyone installed Markdown for Coda, Writeroom, Textwrangler, or OS
X? I'm really interested in using this more but I'm interested in
finding the best way to use. Biggest win for me would be for it to
work from within Writeroom. Textwrangler would be next, followed by
OS X, and Coda would be almost useless. I did see that MacPorts has 2
different distros of markdown

sync+Rnw+TeXShop, again
Hi All --
I'm not sure this is the natural place for this question, but this list is
the place with the best Sweave-TeXShop-sync discussion so far.
My problem is that sync+Sweave+TeXShop works sometimes and not others, and
it's not consistent. The failure, in which sync from PDF opens the .tex
file instead of the .Rnw file, always comes after a code chunk.
If I start from a simple

[LLVMdev] TableGen highlighting files for TextWrangler/BBEdit
Hi,
I've written a syntax highlighting mode for TextWrangler / BBEdit. The folding still needs work,
and the keyword list expanded, but I thought I'd post it here in case anyone has use for it. Files
are available at:
https://github.com/RonRicoSuave/drunken_octopus/tree/master/textwrangler-tablegen
After I have folding working to my liking I can check it in to the LLVM tree if it

Sweave Makefile issue
Dear R-specialists,
I am trying to create a Makefile that will first convert all my .Rnw
files into .tex files and then, that will run the LaTeX compiler to
produce a pdf document. This issue has been discussed before. Hence,
I've basically adapted a Makefile I found at
http://n4.nabble.com/R-Sweave-R-and-complex-latex-projects-td810020.html#a810023
to make it compatible with a Windows

patchDVI update: SyncTex support
A while ago I wrote a package called patchDVI, that allowed
"reverse-search" from the YAP .dvi previewer (or others) to jump
directly to the .Rnw source of an Sweave document.
Recently support for reverse search has been integrated into pdflatex
(through SyncTex). There aren't many PDF previewers on Windows that
support this (only an unreleased version of SumatraPDF, as far as

How to call patchDVI::SweavePDF on an .Rnw which is not the master file?
Dear expeRts,
I have a master file master.tex containing the preamble and which inputs (via
\input{chapter01}, \input{chapter02}, ...) chapters. The chapters are .Rnw
files. My goal is to use patchDVI::SweavePDF to compile the chapters (say,
chapter.Rnw) individually (each chapter starts with sourcing Sweave preliminary
settings).
The first problem is the following. If I execute (in the shell)

Running LaTeX dvi previewer on MacOS X
Several people have given great advice on how to successfully use X11 on
Mac to so we can use the dvi previewer to view latex() output from
Hmisc. Now after a version upgrade of X11 and X11sdk we are getting
lots of crashes. I noticed a Mac dvi previewer with an executable
stored as /Applications/TeX/TeXShop.app/Contents/MacOS/TeXShop
Can we bypass X11 problems and point Hmisc to this

buggy HTML from nested lists w/ paragraphs
I ran into a weird problem while writing my own little guide to
Markdown (using Markdown, of course). The document is mostly made of
list items in nested ul's. As I neared the end, I found (via
MarsEdit's preview) that in place of two sections of content,
Markdown had begun to generate gibberish strings like this:

Working with Sweave: inverse search?
The xdvi and yap DVI viewers allow inverse (aka reverse) search: you
click on a location in the output display, and your editor moves to the
corresponding location in the input file. yap at least also allows
forward search, where you can have your editor tell it to location where
a particular input line is displayed.
I would like something like this to work in Sweave files. That is, I

Troubleshooting sweave
Hi All,
I've reproduced the example from Prof. Friedrich Leisch's webpage. When I
write sweave("Example-1.Snw") OR sweave("Example-1.Rnw"), (yes, I renamed
them). I get the following error:
Writing to file example-1.tex
Processing code chunks ...

Error: chunk 1
Error in library(ctest) : there is no package called 'ctest'

Setting locale to support UTF-8
In Sweave, if the locale is set to C, non-ASCII characters are not
handled nicely even if I declare the encoding of the file to be "UTF-8".
I'm trying to find a workaround for this, because I'm using Sweave
from within TeXShop. TeXShop runs its typesetting engines in the C
locale, and non-ascii characters are messed up.
Is there a way to declare that I am in a

Rd.sty error
I had written a vignette and included a
\usepackage{Rd} command to make it possible to include
latex'ed Rd files in the vignette. However, when loading
Rd.sty texShop produces the following error:

This is on Max OS X 3.9 and R 2.0.1
Has anyone seen this before and/or is it problematic? I'm not sure whether

I've just upgraded from R 2.12.2 to R 2.13.1. As part of my upgrade
process, I typically install some in-development
packages from R-Forge that are not on cran. But for the first time, it
doesn't work.

mac users: what program do you use to create your views?
just wondering if there is a better way to create a nice view other than
using iweb. like, it would be nice if you can design a view, and then
just add the ruby tags.
thanks.

Better tools for authoring the view
I''m hand editing my .css and .rhtml files using SciTE and hitting
refresh in my browser to see the results - its slow going.
What tools are people using to author their .css and .rhtml files?
Thanks,
Neville
