CentOS 5.5 does not recognise SAS drives with LSI 1068E Controller
I need to do a new CentOS net install on a new server having the Supermicro X7DVL-3 motherboard: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon1333/5000V/X7DVL-3.cfm Based on that info I assume the board having a "8x SAS Ports via LSI 1068E Controller". We received the server with 3 drives + 1 spare as hw RAID-5 preinstalled. During bootup I see that the drives are initialised

Need a CONFIRMED working hardware sata raid10 card
Does anyone know of a card that actually works with CentOS 4 that supports Raid10? I don't think CentOS support software raid 10 from the installer. Intel 3000 and 5000 chipsets?
Greetings. HP claims RHEL 4 supports their servers with the Intel 3000 and 5000 chipsets. Has anyone had any trouble/success building machines that use this? For example, CentOS 4.4 on http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/5015/SYS-5015M-T+.cfm Thx. Mike -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Updating Dovecot package?
Does anyone know if upstream ever plans on updating the dovecot package to a non RC version or to even one of the RC versions that isn't so insecure, And by insecure, I of course refer to the recent rash of bugs which have been found. Thanks, -Drew -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Supermicro X7DVL-E and Xeon L5320 installation problems
Tearing our hair out on this one. Trying to install CentOS 5 x86_64 on a Supermicro X7DVL-E with 2 Xeon L5320 quad core CPUs, 3Ware SATA RAID controller in a mirrored setup and 4 GB of memory. Installation crashes at random places while copying the files. We've run memtest86 for 24 hours without any errors, replaced the RAID controller, motherboard and disks, but still no luck.

Nice chassis for ZFS server
Hi, I just came across this box [0] (McKay Creek). Seems to be exceptional building material for ZFS based NAS/iSCSI unit. I especially liked the two extra system disks hidden inside the box ! Any one have an experience with these ? [0] http://www.intel.com/design/servers/storage/ssr212mc2 -- Regards, Cyril

tru64 patch: openssh-SNAP-20020826.tar.gz does not contain 'configure', so how to build?
Hi- Since the tru64 patch was designed for -current, I thought I would try to build it with a recent snapshot before backporting to 3.4p1. So I downloaded openssh-SNAP-20020826.tar.gz frpm the portable snapshots, but it does not contain the 'configure' script. I tried copying the 'configure' from 3.4p1, but that does not create a Makefile from the Makefile.in. Where are the

Intel DH67BL + CentOS 5.5 IRQ #177 nobody cared
Hello, We have built a couple of CentOS 5.5 systems on the Intel DH67BL (Sandy Bridge) motherboard and overall they work pretty well. I'm having one problem which keeps cropping up and that is an error message that says: IRQ 177 nobody cared (try booting with the irqpoll option) report bad irq, references CPU idle then it references usb_hcd_irq and e1000_intr then it disables the add-on

That RTL8169 thing...
Motherboard - Intel DG41TY Device: RealTek: 8111D Driver: RTL8169 Causes Kernel panic during install and boot. -- It seems that the newer the card that uses this driver, the worse the problems are. Is there any plan to roll a newer version into the installer or the actual distribution itself? Thanks, -Drew -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

3Ware 9550SX-4LP Performance
I know there are a few 3Ware fans here and I was hoping to find some help. I just built a new server using a 3Ware 9550SX-4LP with four disks in raid 5. The array is fully initialized but I'm not getting the write performance I was hoping for -- only 40 to 45MB/Sec. 3Ware's site advertises 300MB/Sec writes using 8 disks on the PCI Express version of this card (the 9580 I think.)

CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo
Dear list, I am planning to buy a new server -because the new Core2 Duo based Xeons (5100 series) are considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4 on such a setup. Specifically: CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz Board: Intel S5000 chipset RAID5:

uid transition and post-auth privsep (WAS Re: possible fundamental problem with tru64 patch) (fwd)
What do we loose by not having post-auth privsep? What code is executed between authorization and actual setting of the effective uid? Redhat 5 delayed until march, Centos april then?
Hi, like (I'm guessing) alot of other folks, we were eager for the new release of CentOS/RedHat to support some of the newer intel technology (965 chipset mostly (ich8?)) I read today that Redhat 5 has been delayed until March of 2007, which would presumably put the release of CentOS 5 sometime in April. Does the CentOS developer team have any intention of releasing (possibly a new version

mainboard recommendations
Hi, As it has been brought to my attention (by several parties), my current MB does not support VT-d. Since I don''t feel like purchasing a brand new system, I have searched for replacement MB-s that would fit into my existing uATX case, support my C2D CPU, and support at least 4x2GB ram. I have narrowed it down to the following four models: SUPERMICRO MBD-C2SBM-Q-O (Q35 chipset)
