sampling design runs with no errors but returns empty data set
Dear colleagues, I'm working with the 2008 Canada Election Studies (http://www.queensu.ca/cora/_files/_CES/CES2008.sav.zip), trying to construct a weighted national sample using the survey package. Three weights are included in the national survey (a household weight, a provincial weight and a national weight which is a product of the first two). In the following code I removed variables with

how to cat / grep from dbox files
Dear List members I am new to dovecot and am looking for a solution. I have googled as much as I could, but most likely my search criteria was wrong, and hence asking here. I am familiar with maildir format, and could easily do cat / grep / sed on those files to extract data. The server I am looking at now uses dbox format, which seems to store data in a different way. just to give you an

Upgrading Samba
I am in the process of planning for a samba upgrade. The current version of Samba (2.2.8a) runs on a Sunfire 280R with Solaris 8. The intended new platform is a sunfire V240 with Solaris 9 as the OS. The new version of Samba will be Samba-3.0.10. Please note that the Samba server will be a member of a domain. I've read Samba-3 by Example, Chapter 8 which describes to the process of updating

Asterisk + ISDN BRI - gateway or card?
Hi All, Has anyone had experiences with Asterisk and ISDN Gateways or cards? I am looking to setup a home phone system using asterisk and am looking to convert my two existing no's to a single isdn2e line. I was wandering if anyone could recommend which is better to use with asterisk - ISDN Card or gateway? also which brands are best with linux/asterisk? I have used eicon BRI cards for

Re: [Asterisk-Dev] Softphone for PocketPC or iPaq
I have tried sjphone - worked well, although I think my 3 year old IPAQ had a bit of a hard time keeping up with the pace as there was quite a delay in the speech. Probably says more about my ancient IPAQ than SJPhone. Asterisk, Zaptel and Legacy Phones?
Hi all, Has anyone had any experience getting asterisk to work with legacy phones? I have been trying to get some of our exisiting Plessey PKS2 (Masterline) Keystation phones to work with asterisk. They are 4 wire extensions (2 for voice and 2 for data) I have connected a test phone to the asterisk server via a digium 400tdm and it kinda works in that if I lift the receiver I hear dialtone

Asterisk, Hylafax and T38Modem - help!
Hi All, I know that this may not strictly be an asterisk issue, but if anyone has any ideas on this prob it would be appreciated. I have a working asterisk setup using Suse 9.1, a BT ISDN BRI card (Fritz?), sipura 3000 and a few cisco 7940's. I wanted to do add faxing into the equation, so I thought I would try and setup the following: PSTN->asterisk->hylafax->pc At the moment

Mitel 5010 +5220
I know this is not strictly an asterisk issue but it is related I guess. Just to let you know that after many calls to Mitel the consensus is that they will be releasing a new version of the 5220 that is dual boot (minet and SIP) next week or the week after. This firmware will only appear on NEW phones manufactured after the release date (no one could confirm but the 23rd of sept was

* and Fax
Hi, I think this is one area that needs to be developed. I am curently implementing a system for my home so cannot really justify the cost of financially supporting the development of this when all I really need to do is buy a telephone extension lead for my existing fax modem!!! I am more than willing to devote some testing/documentation time (I am not really a programmer) if that helps.

feedback European Commission pilot assessment
Dear Sir, dear Madam, I am currently working with the European Commission on a pilot assessment of Video Codecs in eGovernment, more precisely for live video streaming of parliamentary sessions. The results of the analysis will be published for public consultation on IDABC <http://ec.europa.eu/idabc/en/home> website. The following video codecs are on the list: H.264/AVC, VC-1,

Cisco 7940 - SCCP or SIP?
Hi All I have recently downloaded Asterisk and was so impressed I thought I would setup a home server and I went out and got myself a couple of cisco 7940's. (and a sipaura 3000!). thanks to various posts on this list and the voip-info site I have managed to get chan_sccp setup and working with the 7940's but the I tried to get the messages, services and softkeys working. It seems

getting strata/cluster level values with survey package?
First, I appoligise for the rooky question, but... I'm trying to obtain standard errors, confidence intervals, etc. from a sample design and have been trouble getting the results for anything other than the basic total or mean for the overall survey from the survey package. For example, using the following dataset, strata, cluster, vol A,1,18.58556192 A,1,12.55175443 A,1,21.65882438

boot with strata: strata argument ignored?
Hello All. I must be missing the really obvious here: mm <- function(d, i) median(d[i]) b1 <- boot(gravity$g, mm, R = 1000) b1 b2 <- boot(gravity$g, mm, R = 1000, strata = gravity$series) b2 Both b1 and b2 seem to have done (almost) the same thing, but it looks like the strata argument in b2 has been ignored. However, str(b1) vs str(b2) does show that the strata have been noted

Rounding multinomial proportions
I present you with a function that solves a problem that has bugged me for many years. I think the problem may be general enough to at least consider adding this function, or a revamped version of it, to the 'stats' package, with the other multinomial functions reside. I'm using R to export data to text files, which are input data for an external model written in C++. Parts of the

Examples of "classwt", "strata", and "sampsize" in randomForest?
Just browsing the documentation, and searching the list came up short... I have some unbalance data and was wondering if, in a "0" v "1" classification forest, if these options might yield better predictions when the proportion of one class is low (less than 10% in a sample of 2,000 observations). Not sure how to specify these terms... from the docs, we have: classwt: Priors

Frailty by strata interactions in coxph (or coxme)?
Hello, I was hoping that someone could answer a few questions for me (the background is given below): 1) Can the coxph accept an interaction between a covariate and a frailty term 2) If so, is it possible to a) test the model in which the covariate and the frailty appear as main terms using the penalized likelihood (for gaussian/t frailties) b)augment model 1) by stratifying on the variable that

strata in crr (cmprsk library)
Hi all, I am aware that crr lacks the "friendly" command structure of functions such as cph. All is clear to me about including covariates until I want to include a stratification term in the competing risk framework (no nice strat command). I am still a bit of a novice in R - I am looking for an example to help me with this, but can't seem to find one. Any advice appreciated (no

Fitting problem for Cox model with Strata as interaction term
Dear All, I got a warning message "X matrix deemed to be singular" in Cox model with a time dependent coefficient. In my analysis, the variable "SEX" is a categorical variable which violate the PH assumption in Cox. I first used the survSplit() function to break the data set into different time intervals, and then fit the model. The procedures can be described as follows:
