Rsync and ssh with passwordless authentifikation
Is it possible to konfigure a passwordless authentifikation in kombination
with ssh.
for example:
to a specific folder on a server named server1 has only user1 access.
the user1 only exists on server1.
server2 wants to replicate a foler from server1 to himself.
the rsync process uses the rsync_user, which exists on both machines.
the rsync process asks every time the job runs for the password

MySql 4.1.9, passwords, Rails
After spending a lot of time today trying to get CocoaMySQL connecting
to a remote MySQL 4.1.9 server via ssh tunnel and then experiencing the
password hashing issue locally when I put in passwords on my local
Mysql server, I started wondering about Rails compatibility.
Will rails now hash passwords correctly when connecting to MySql
4.1.7+, or should I stick with using old_password() when

filling area under a function line
Hi R collective,
I quite like the "curve" function because you can chuck a R function
into it, and see the graph in one line of R.
I had a google and found some threads for filling under the line;
http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e2/help/07/09/25457.html
However they seem to miss the point of the simplicity of going, "I
wonder what that looks like, and can I have some colour

Yet another ''how to sell Rails'' (performance related) question -
Hi all,
I have already evangelized my management to use Rails instead of a Java
framework for a newly starting projects - they are OK with Ruby, Rails,
seems i won the ''will it scale?'' round too, however there is one final
round: performance.
These guys are really hooked on numbers. (I know, i know, i have been
reading DHH''s thoughts on this topic (in short: who

[Bug 47] conntrack breaks nfs, corrupted packets
https://bugzilla.netfilter.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=47
------- Additional Comments From kaber@trash.net 2003-05-14 02:39 -------
I've captured some non-fragmented tcp packets which show this behaviour with
2.4.21-rc2.
They look badly damaged. The destination ip doesn't match the mac but they come
from valid connections. Setting interface mtu to 1486 helps which makes me

Fedora user moving to CentOS
Greetings, I'm a Fedora user likely going to switch to CentOS in the
next few days. I'm wondering if anyone has some heads up advice for
me? I am very familiar with FC6 and before so I anticipate few problems
I haven't already seen (and know were fixed).
The main reason for the move is so I don't have to re-install so
frequently and hopefully not have to deal with so many

Problem mapping Samba shares in Windows
Hi,
In our company we are currently running a Samba server and Windows XP clients.
At the moment we are having problems with mapping Samba shares in Windows.
Shares are being mapped through a windows startup script, which executes net use (with the option persistent:no) command.
For most users this works most of the time, nevertheless it often fails, the exect reason for this isn't clear
