SAS or R software
Hi all there Can some one clarify me on this issue, features wise which is better R or SAS, leaving the commerical aspect associated with it. I suppose there are few people who have worked on both R and SAS and wish they would be able to help me in deciding on this. THank you for the help --------------------------------- [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

New York Times - R - article a fraud?
I worked on some ad data before and I found NYT article very biaised and not far from a fraud... Anyone knows if they got money from a - company - to play 'R'? Check out the title: R U Ready for R? Seems to me this title was stolen from XLSolutions www.xlsolutions-corp.com and they never mentioned XLSolutions in the article! They mentioned commercial R....never mentioned

Use of R in clinical trials
Dear all, There have been a variety of discussions on the R list regarding the use of R in clinical trials. The following post from the STATA list provides an interesting opinion regarding why SAS remains so popular in this arena: http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2008-01/msg00098.html Regards, -Cody Hamilton

[test message] Can R replicate this data manipulation in SAS?
Apologies for troubling the list, but it is a test that needs to be carried out. I am resending the message that I sent earlier on behalf of Paul Miller, but with a certain word used in the variables names of the SAS code changed to a different word. With thanks for your tolerance ... Ted. [*** PLEASE NOTE: I am sending this message on behalf of Paul Miller: Paul Miller <pjmiller_57 at

Frequency tables.
Hi All, I'm a SAS user but I'm very much interested in learning R. I use ODS system in SAS to make nice frequency tables. Is it possible to export the output of table() [in TABULAR FORM]? So, that I can use those directly for publications? Thank you. # R Code: library(datasets) Orange summary(Orange) # outputing this, not as it is, but in table for. is it possible? ~Kim [[alternative

License Question
Dear All, I learned about R during my studies at Cologne University of Applied Science. Now I work at Allianz Dresdner Bauspar AG and I would like to install R here too. Is there any license issues that need to be taken in consideration, any fees to pay by the company? I know there are answers to this in the FAQs but I didn't really understand the legal language. Could you therefore just give

OpenOffice ods spreadsheets in R?
I would like to open OpenOffice (LibreOffice) .ods files in R. I've tried the ROpenOffice package from omegahat, but unfortunately, the read.ods() function attempts to use the values of the first column in a worksheet as row names, and thus does not allow duplicates in there (which, even more unfortunately, occur in my files). Also, the function does not allow to forward any other

SAS and R complement each other
I'm not sure why you posted the original note. I quit using SAS in 1991 and haven't needed it yet. Frank RogerJDeAngelis wrote > Sorry about the double post. Tools For Preparing Data For Analysis
As noted on the R-project web site itself ( www.r-project.org -> Manuals -> R Data Import/Export ), it can be cumbersome to prepare messy and dirty data for analysis with the R tool itself. I've also seen at least one S programming book (one of the yellow Springer ones) that says, more briefly, the same thing. The R Data Import/Export page recommends examples using SAS, Perl, Python, and

Converting SAS Code
Hello all, My statistical analysis training up until this point has been entirely done in SAS. The code I frequently used was: *Yield Champagin; data yield; set stress; if field='YV' then delete; if field='HB' then delete; if barcode='16187DD4015' then delete; if barcode='16187DD6002' then delete; if barcode='16187DD2007' then delete; if

How would you program an Adverse Events statistical table using R code?
A graph != A table. I'm talking about a page full of summary statistics and advanced statistics, with lots of cross categories on the top and left margin of the table, as opposed to a visual display with x-axis and y-axis, which is totally different. (An example of how this is done in another language is available at http://fivetimesfaster.blogspot.com ) For an AE table, you have an N and %
