A GSE data in the web of ncbi, GSE3524 cannot be open correctly
Hi, all
I met a problem to query GSE3524, which cannot be open on my computer. I
hope some of you would be kind to give me some advice. Thanks!
The code is as follow:

[PATCH] virtio_blk: provide getgeo
Rusty,
I currently try to make my guest boot from an virtio root device
without having an external kernel. Some of the tools that I tried
expect HDIO_GETGEO to work. The most interesting value is likely
the geo.start value to get the offset of a partition. This value
is filled by block/ioctl.c if fops->getgeo is set. This patch also
fills in some standard values for heads, sectors and

[PATCH] Implement getgeo for Xen virtual block device.
Hi Jeremy,
The below implements the getgeo hook for Xen block devices. Extracted
from the xen-unstable tree where it has been used for ages.
It is useful to have because it allows things like grub2 (used by the
Debian installer images) to work in a guest domain without having to
sprinkle Xen specific hacks around the place.

[BioC] Suppress output from getGEO
some time ago i communicated the same issue to sean, and i'm very glad he
has improved the package -- thanks!
i'm purposefully posting to r-devel rather than to bioconductor. i think
that download.file could be improved to avoid this sort of spamming output
seen previously with getGEO. currently, it prints dots (when it does) in
5 10-packs per line, line after line. instead, it could

Suppress output from getGEO
Dear R-ers,
I am using getGEO to download expression data from the Gene Expression
Omnibus. With default settings, when a file is downloaded and parsed,
lots of dotted lines are printed in the terminal, like this:

intensity map / plot
Dear R-list,
I would like to generate an intensity map based on a x * y matrix.
Each point in the matrix should get plotted at the coordinate: x = column / y = row with
a color-intensity (for example gray-value) based on the actual value of this point.
Is there a convenient package / function for this kind of plot?
example data:
x <- matrix(rnorm(100*100, 0, 2), 100, 100)
thanks!

compute traffic intensity from CDR?
Hi. Has anyone written anything that can take CDR output and calculate
traffic intensity?
We're interested in figuring out the maximum number of simultaneous
calls we were handling for various phone numbers / services.
Thanks...

hsv producing a color intensity not in [0,1] (PR#2576)
Full_Name: Jae Choi
Version: 1.6.1
OS: linux (x86)

Hello,
Any attempts to access the "hsv" function returns the following type of error:
Error in hsv(h = seq(start, ifelse(start > end, 1, 0) + end, length = n)%%1, :
color intensity 1.25, not in [0,1]

Kernel Estimate for the Intensity Function
To anyone who can help me:
I found that the function "smooth.ppp" in the package "spatstat" provides
the kernel estimate for the intensity function of a "two-dimensional" point
process with marks.
Does anyone know that which package can do this for simply a "one-
dimensional" point process with marks?
I've been searching all over the R site but still

plotting the cumulative hazard function of a process whose intensity function is specified
I would like to simulate a stochastic process by specifying an intensity function, say
lambda(t)=0.05 + 3 exp(鈭抰)
I have the following code, but it has a number of problems. One issue I have is I do not know where the time variable is. I would appreciate your help with this code.
library("survival")
n <- 5000
lamc<-0.08
k1<-0.05
k2<-3
ld<-function(t){k1+k2}

displaying intensity through opacity on an image
Dear colleagues,
I have an image which I can display in the greyscale using image. On this image, for some pixels, which I know, I want to display their activity based on a third measure. One way to do that would be to color these differently, and use an opacity measure to display the third measure. An example of what I am trying to do is at:

NMDS plot and Adonis (PerMANOVA) of community composition with presence absence and relative intensity
Hi!
Thanks for providing great help in R-related statistics. Now, however I'm
stuck. I'm not a statistics person but I was recommended to use R to perform
a nmds plot and PerMANOVA of my dataset.
Sample(treatment) in the columns and species (OTU) in the rows. I have 4
treatments (Ambient Temperature, Ambient temperature+Low pH, High
temperature, High temperature+low pH), and I have 16
