Error on reading an excel file
Hello everybody, here is the code I use to read an excel file containing two rows, one of date, the other of prices: library(RODBC) z <- odbcConnectExcel("SPX_HistoricalData.xls") datas <- sqlFetch(z,"Sheet1") close(z) It works pretty well but the only thing is that the datas stop at row 7530 and I don?t know why datas is a data frame that contains 7531 rows with the

Creating an excel file and manipulating it from R
Hello everybody, I?ve been looking for a function that would create an excel file in my working directory where I would write my dataframe but I only found the functions to write or read in an existing file that you gave me on my former post or on some websites. I can?t find either functions to manipulate those datas: for example, I would like some lines to be red or green according to their

Problem with sqlSave
Hello, the sqlSave function is used in order to write a dataframe on excel. This function creates worksheets using the attribute tablename and writes the data.frame in it. What I want to do is to create this data.frame but being able in case this worksheet already exists to delete the former datas and write the new ones in it. I used the safer and append attributes. When you set safer to false,

write.xls
Hello, All: The "writeFindFn2xls" function in the "sos" package tries to write an Excel file with 3 sheets ('PackageSum2', 'findFn', 'call'). Unfortunately, it is often unable to do this because of configuration problems that are not easy to fix. I've found 3 contributed packages that provide facilities to write Excel files with

64 bit use of odbcConnectExcel
Hi All, I'm using R 2.11.1 on 64 bit windows XP. The little function I wrote below I use often to import the first 1001 lines in an excel sheet to R. This works fine on the 32 bit version of R but fails on the 64 bit [both on the same machine, using the same function, importing the same .xls file]. The message from 64 bit R is: Error in sqlTables(channel1) : first argument is not an

RODBC to import/export xls files
Dear R users, I've learned today about RODBC package in order to import xls file to dataframes and export the dataframes to xls files. However I have some problems. Please excuse me if these are basic but as I said, I've just begun with this package. Also this email is quite long, but everything is related, so I don't think it would be better to split it. Moreover, there's a

problem with sqlSave()
Dear R users, I've already asked this question yesterday, but, though I had answer for the other ones (and they helped a lot, thanks), for some reason didn't get an answer for this one (I would also appreciate to know why, so that I can improve the quality and clarity of my future questions). Here it is again: I'm trying to use RODBC to export dataframes to xls files. When I run

Convert number to Date
Hello, I have a date value in excel: 1/4/2010 which in number format gives me 40182. When I read this with read.xls from R I get same 40182 so what I do is that I use the as.Date() function but here is what the as.Date() function returns me: > as.Date(40182) [1] "2080-01-06" Why don't I get the same thing as in excel?
