Creating an excel file and manipulating it from R
Hello everybody, I?ve been looking for a function that would create an excel
file in my working directory where I would write my dataframe but I only
found the functions to write or read in an existing file that you gave me on
my former post or on some websites. I can?t find either functions to
manipulate those datas: for example, I would like some lines to be red or
green according to their

Problem with sqlSave
Hello, the sqlSave function is used in order to write a dataframe on excel.
This function creates worksheets using the attribute tablename and writes
the data.frame in it. What I want to do is to create this data.frame but
being able in case this worksheet already exists to delete the former datas
and write the new ones in it. I used the safer and append attributes. When
you set safer to false,

leer ficheros excel en R en Ubuntu
Hola,
a csv prefiero no usarlo. Me gustaría hacerlo todo desde R.

Con RODBC me salta ->

leer ficheros excel en R en Ubuntu
Hola,
y nada:
require(RODBC)
conn = odbcConnectExcel("madrid.xls") # open a connection to the Excel file
sqlTables(conn)$TABLE_NAME # show all sheets

Errors in odbcConnectExcel()
Dear R-help
I would like to read Excel Spreadsheets using

web, y he intentado todas las opcioens que he visto.
he hecho install.packages('rJava')

write.xls
Hello, All:
The "writeFindFn2xls" function in the "sos" package tries to
write an Excel file with 3 sheets ('PackageSum2', 'findFn', 'call').
Unfortunately, it is often unable to do this because of configuration
problems that are not easy to fix. I've found 3 contributed packages
that provide facilities to write Excel files with

RODBC, missing values, and Excel
Hi, all,
I'm trying to use RODBC to read data from Excel. However, I'm having
trouble converting missing values to NA and rather perplexed by the
output. Below illustrates my problem:

Excel *.xls files, RODBC
I gather from reading the back-issues of r-help that it should be
possible (modulo a number of caveats) to read an excel (yuck!) file
into R using RODBC. I have obtained and installed ODBC and the RODBC
package, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to go about
it. Can anyone give me a simple recipe?
I have an excel file on cdrom, say:
/mnt/cdrom/melvin.xls
I have started R and loaded

as.data.frame question
I'm using the RODBC library to read in an Excel file using the odbcConnectExcel function. I can read the Excel data prefectly, however all my character variables get converted to factors when using
my.data <- as.data.frame(sqlFetch(channel, "Sheet1"))
I've tried using
my.data <- as.data.frame(I(sqlFetch(channel, "Sheet1")))
but this creates just

RODBC: problem saving a new table in an "Excel database"
Hi
I am using package RODBC version 1.0-1 under R version 1.7.1 on Windows
XP Pro. I am having problems writing a new table to an (Excel) database
using sqlSave.
I connect to an empty Excel spreadsheet using odbcConnectExcel (which, I
believe, uses the Microsoft Excel Driver DSN). Then I try and save a new
table to the database(spreadsheet) using SqlSave, but obtain an error
message.

channel <- odbcConnextExcel("test.xls")
tables <- sqlTables(channel)
name1 <- tables[1, "TABLE_NAME"] # this should be the name
plan1 <- sqlFetch(channel, name1) # bang!

Rioja package, creating transfer function, WA, "Error in FUN"
Hi, I am a new R user and am trying to construct a palaeoenvironmental
transfer function (weighted averaging method) using the package rioja.
I've managed to insert the two matrices (the species abundance and the
environmental data) and have assigned them to the y and x values
respectively. When I try and enter the 'WA' function though, I get an 'Error
