rgl.snapshot on linux produces colored lines only
I'm having a problem with rgl.snapshot. If I run the following code *once* and *once only*, all is well.
data(trees)
attach(trees)
plot3d(Height, Girth, Volume, type='s')
rgl.snapshot("/home/user/pic.png", fmt="png", top=TRUE )
And the pic.png looks right. But if I try to rerun rgl.snapshot anytime again in this session, the file pic.png still outputs but is

rgl, openmesa, nvidia. Oh my!
I've caused a new problem for myself. I wonder if you have seen it.
On Ubuntu 9.04 I had a lot of hangs with the nvidia packages and so I
updated to the 185 edition on this website:
https://launchpad.net/~nvidia-vdpau/+archive/ppa
The video drivers are much better! However, I notice now I don't have
all of the working pieces of the X11/openGL development toolkit in

Thank you for your work on rgl.
Reading in another thread about your new (inofficial) version of rgl
(see below) I tried it with R version 2.5.0 alpha (2007-03-31 r40986)
under FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT. Unfortunately I got the following error:

Installing rgl on linux
Hi,
I'm new to R. I installed several packages in R (R-1.9.1) without
problems. I am trying to set R up to use Rcmdr, all I need now is rgl -
unfortunately I can't get it to install. There is a previous message
regarding this issue from June but even with information in those
answers I get stuck.
I have attempted to install rgl form within R and from a shell using the

which worked fine, installing all dependencies
From R, as root, I did
update.packages()
but a number of packages packages failed to install, either for missing
gfortran
or missing dependencies.
