I did not find any reference to Smb4K in the FAQs Varun ----- Original Message ----- From: John Andersen <jsa@norcomix.dyndns.org> Date: Monday, June 6, 2005 3:25 pm Subject: Re: [Shorewall-users] Smb4K port> On Sunday 05 June 2005 09:47 pm, varun_saa@vsnl.net wrote: > > Hello, > > Which port Smb4K uses? > > I am not able to use Smb4K on my > > server for the local network. > > > > Thanks > > > > Varun > > > > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm > > Follow the shorewall instructions for samba. > > -- > John Andersen - NORCOM > http://www.norcomsoftware.com/ > _______________________________________________ > Shorewall-users mailing list > Post: Shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net > Subscribe/Unsubscribe: > https://lists.shorewall.net/mailman/listinfo/shorewall-users > Support: http://www.shorewall.net/support.htm > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm >
And that is why I didn''t mention it in my suggestion to follow the shorewall FAQ about samba. Smb4k is just a shim around the standard Linux samba package and allows you to browse windows machines on the network. Smb (server message block) 4 = for K = Kde So if you follow the faq with regard to samba it will start working for smb4k On Monday 06 June 2005 06:25 pm, varun_saa@vsnl.net wrote:> I did not find any reference to Smb4K in the FAQs > > Varun > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: John Andersen <jsa@norcomix.dyndns.org> > Date: Monday, June 6, 2005 3:25 pm > Subject: Re: [Shorewall-users] Smb4K port > > > On Sunday 05 June 2005 09:47 pm, varun_saa@vsnl.net wrote: > > > Hello, > > > Which port Smb4K uses? > > > I am not able to use Smb4K on my > > > server for the local network. > > > > > > Thanks > > > > > > Varun > > > > > > > > > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm > > > > Follow the shorewall instructions for samba. > > > > -- > > John Andersen - NORCOM > > http://www.norcomsoftware.com/ > > _______________________________________________ > > Shorewall-users mailing list > > Post: Shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net > > Subscribe/Unsubscribe: > > https://lists.shorewall.net/mailman/listinfo/shorewall-users > > Support: http://www.shorewall.net/support.htm > > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm > > _______________________________________________ > Shorewall-users mailing list > Post: Shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net > Subscribe/Unsubscribe: > https://lists.shorewall.net/mailman/listinfo/shorewall-users Support: > http://www.shorewall.net/support.htm > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm-- John Andersen - NORCOM http://www.norcomsoftware.com/

If you had searched the shorewall.net site for "Samba", you would have found: http://www.shorewall.net/1.4/samba.htm> -----Original Message----- > From: shorewall-users-bounces@lists.shorewall.net > [mailto:shorewall-users-bounces@lists.shorewall.net] On > Behalf Of varun_saa@vsnl.net > Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 9:25 PM > To: Mailing List for Shorewall Users > Subject: Re: [Shorewall-users] Smb4K port > > > I did not find any reference to Smb4K in the FAQs > > Varun > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: John Andersen <jsa@norcomix.dyndns.org> > Date: Monday, June 6, 2005 3:25 pm > Subject: Re: [Shorewall-users] Smb4K port > > > On Sunday 05 June 2005 09:47 pm, varun_saa@vsnl.net wrote: > > > Hello, > > > Which port Smb4K uses? > > > I am not able to use Smb4K on my > > > server for the local network. > > > > > > Thanks > > > > > > Varun > > > > > > > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm > > > > Follow the shorewall instructions for samba. > > > > -- > > John Andersen - NORCOM > > http://www.norcomsoftware.com/ > > _______________________________________________ > > Shorewall-users mailing list > > Post: Shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net > > Subscribe/Unsubscribe: > > https://lists.shorewall.net/mailman/listinfo/shorewall-users > > Support: http://www.shorewall.net/support.htm > > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm > > > > _______________________________________________ > Shorewall-users mailing list > Post: Shorewall-users@lists.shorewall.net > Subscribe/Unsubscribe: > https://lists.shorewall.net/mailman/listinfo/shorewall-users > Support: http://www.shorewall.net/support.htm > FAQ: http://www.shorewall.net/FAQ.htm > > > CONFIDENTIAL/PROPRIETARY > > Unless otherwise indicated, all information (including > attachments) contained in this e-mail communication is > confidential and proprietary information exclusively owned by > the sender and/or its related or affiliated companies and > shall not, without the prior written consent of the sender, > be used, disclosed, distributed or reproduced, in whole or in > part, by anyone other than the individual or entity to whom > this communication is addressed exclusively for the purpose > expressly indicated in this communication. > > This e-mail communication is intended for the use of the > individual or entity to whom it is addressed.
