What version of shorewall do you suggest I try on a FC3 system?

great, I have installed 2.0.10, where can I find information on how 
to set up NIS/YP and nfs.

NFS is covered

Note that only UDP NFS configuration is covered. Basically, any
application that uses port mapping is difficult to firewall. I handle
NFS access from my laptop by using IPSEC so I can allow all traffic from
the laptop to the local network (http://shorewall.net/myfiles.htm).

I don''t have any of the URLs handy at the moment, but I was able to
google-up some good info on hard-setting the ports used by nfsd, nfslock
etc.  Some of the options are for the modules, some go in /etc/sysconfig
entries and are used by the various daemons.  Made it much easier to
configure a ruleset that always allowed the necessary nfs traffic
through.
