Shorewall users - Mar 2003 - Shell Script execution on start

All,
  Will the init,start,stop,stopped scripts that are
located in /etc/shorewall be run as shell scripts? In
other words can I add my own shell commands in there
or can I only add IPTABLES (run_iptables) commands?

  These scripts are loosely documented but I cannot
find anything that covers what actually happens when
these run.

looking for is explained in the first paragraph on that page.

Shorewall uses the Bourne Shell "source" (".") mechanism to
process these
files.
