Does anyone have any experience with dynfw? (http://www.gentoo.org/projects/dynfw.html) It may not be needed with a Shorewall system, which is so easy to configure. The dynfw concept of a rapid response capability is good. Another data point on the road to ease-of-use nirvana. :-) Ron ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Like fine wine or a Cuban cigar, maturity counts in a rock ''n roll star." -- Loudon Wainwright, III =20

It would sure help when replying to your posts if you could set that option. Thanks Please give the "shorewall" and "firewall" in CVS a try. It has the following: shorewall show dynamic -- displays the dynamic rules. shorewall drop <ip> ... -- drop all packets from the listed IPs shorewall reject <ip> ... -- reject all packets from the listed IPs shorewall allow <ip> ... -- reinstate IP(s) previously dropped or rejected. shorewall save -- save dynamic rules so that they will be loaded at the next stop/start or restart. -Tom PS -- turns out that I has already been working on that :-) -- Tom Eastep \ Shorewall - iptables made easy AIM: tmeastep \ http://www.shorewall.net ICQ: #60745924 \ teastep@shorewall.net

ThanksSorry, I''m stuck using LookOut2K (sigh) at the moment (hoping to move to Evolution soon) and can''t find where to add a fold option. Would welcome any tips to make it happen, of course.> Please give the "shorewall" and "firewall" in CVS a try. Sneaking up on us with more new features again. It will be super to have those new command options. Now, if it would only be possible to drop Shorewall onto an existing "raw" iptables setup and ask Shorewall to reverse engineer ("upload") the existing=20 configuration into the Shorewall files? Uh.... yet another lazy sysadmin feature request. <bg>

In my OutLook2K (full ver. 9.0.0.5414 - not OE) I have Tools > Options > Mail Format > "Send in this message format: [Plain Text]" Nothing more. Further, under "International Options" button, we have encoding options, currently set to Western European (ISO). There is also a "US-ASCII" encoding option. Might that help? [making short lines manually in this and the last]

Hurray! Thread be dead.
Steve, Hmmm. I think the problem now might be that LookOut2K pulls all the encoding information (at least some of the format data) and when responding it responds in the same format of the previous messages, which in this thread began as Western European (ISO). This message is a brand new one (not a reply) with the US-ASCII encoding. I''ve manually reproduced the subject line to maintain the thread. If my theory of "carry-over formatting" is correct, this message should be OK, in spite of having long lines. Is this one working OK? If not, I may still have a problem. Ron
Apologies to the list - this thread has gotten off topic for this list and we should take it offline if need be. Steve, if you would kindly respond to the last one direct to me instead of to the list, we can put this thread to rest. Thread be dead. Ron
