Shorewall users - Jun 2002 - RedHat installation requirements...

RedHat''s installation requirements are yet another reason why I think 
they''re going down the wrong road for me. In an effort to be all things
to all people, RedHat has become quite bloated and difficult to work 
with. Trimming down even a basic installation has become quite a task. 
That''s why I''ve been moving all of my server builds to Gentoo 
(gentoo.org). Small, fast, and nothing there that I didn''t select.
It''s
a great distribution for smaller machines (small RAM, small disk) and 
its performance is excellent. Shoreline Firewall works like a charm, 
too...

There is work currently underway in Germany to package Shorewall for 
Gentoo.
