indexing within a function
...func(1,6)
numeric(0)
But, if I just enter:
>time[pop=="1"&id=="6"]
[1] 1
I get the right answer... Does anyone know why the indexing works
outside the function, but not inside?
Thanks in advance,
Arianne Albert

Meta-analysis mixed model

Any help would be appreciated, as I seem to have hit a dead end.

color of plot axes involving POSIX types

makes the x axis yellow by overwriting, so I can get what I want
(fortunately I didn't post this earlier when I was tied in a knot), but it
doesn't seem elegant.
Any hints?

Interpretation of hypothesis tests for mixed models

but what is the logic behind fm1?
I have looked in Venables & Ripley (2002) and Pinheiro & Bates (2000),
but neither of these excellent books seems to explain how or whether
models like fm1 and fm2 differ.

Problem with fractional seconds
...ith fractional seconds. I.e.
06:00:00.100,06:00:01.231
I have also tried Chron times() which did not work either. Interestingly, Sys.time() does produce fractional seconds, so I know the options are working.
I would appreciate your help and suggestions.

open .r files with double-click
...R 2.5.0.
After reading the Installation for Windows and Windows FAQs,
I cannot resolve this.
I set file types so that Rgui.exe will open .r files.
When I try to open a .r file by double-clicking, R begins to launch,
but I get an error message saying
"Argument 'C:\Documents and Settings\Zoology\My Documents\trial.r' _ignored_"
I click OK, and then R GUI opens, but not the script file.
Is there a way to change this?
