Was: Win98SE and Samba 2.0.10 Problems
Well the weekend didn't bring any solutions to this unhappy camper. I spent
most of my time trying to narrow down the problem again. I started out by
installing a quick copy of ZipSlack on the Win98SE machine to determine once
and for all if the problem was a Windows problem or not. Well, I tried a
simple FTP from the ZipSlack to my Mandrake 8.0 server and it hung up like
in Windows. So I can pretty much say that the problem would reside in the
hardware.
So to recap:
1. I can u...

set_thread_buffer error
Successfully compiled Wine, but when it tries to do "Installing default
Wine registry entries..." then I get this error:
wine client eror:0x8068aa8: set_thread_buffer failed with status c000000f
I get the same error when trying to run 'wine' at the prompt. I've got
Zipslack, kernel 2.4.9, libc 6.2.2 . I've tried the solution posted
elsewhere on this NG but it doesn't work. It's at

does wine honor smb files
Putting on my asbestos flame suit ;)
All of my windows programs are on another pc and are only available over
the network via smb (samba).
The "C" drive is mounted in fstab like this:
//p500/c /p500-c smbfs guest,rw
Can the wine.config file be modified to point to the appropriate windows
directories on the other system?
I have tried several things, none of which have worked.

Ran IE5 with Wine ...
Well, well, well, what can i do to repair my windows98 system now ? It
still works relatively OK, but some applications do not, and it crashes
more than usual.
One more question is: can i run the defrag utility under windows without
getting
all the files mixed up? I had to reinstall linux after running defrag under
windows because the nodes were all mixed up.
Oh, by the way, before i get

Win98SE to Samba 2.0.10 Problems
...2. I attempted to ftp a file from the Win 98SE PC to my Samba Server,
didn't work. So I can assume that it is not specifically Samba problem.
3. I have changed the NIC cards in both the Win98SE machine and the
Linux server, no change.
4. Now here's the funny one...I made a quick install of ZipSlack 7.1 on
my work laptop to help narrow down the problems. I sent up Samba 2.0.3 and
voila...I have no transfer problems to speak of to the Slackware Samba
machine. So this makes me think that it may be a problem on the Mandrake
8.0 machine...don't know for sure.
5. I then set up Redhat 7.1 on a...
