Using of pxelinux configfiles for both BIOS and UEFI boot
Hello everyone, I'm using a windows PXE server and I try to upgrade a existing PXELINUX menu structure with actually with BIOS/Legacy mode to work in UEFI mode too. Since I have to use ZENworks tftp on the windows server I have only one TFTP-root directory not 2 different tftp-root directories like on a standard windows deployment server. ZENworks itself uses for Legacy mode a patched PXELINUX and for UEFI a patched grub boot manager to get both running. - Is there a standard approach to...

Boot into operating system after PXE boot
...If it's set, a certain program is executed with certain parameters (G4L), if not, the PC should continue to boot in it's installed operating system. Is the latter possible? If so, how do I go about to continue booting after the PXE soft has loaded? I've seen it in a commercial product (Zenworks Imaging by Novell), so it should be possible ... Rgds, Bart

How to make Vorbis popular
Ogg Vorbis is still not known by the mainstream and not widely used these days. I've been thinking about this... MP3 is so popular because people can download music for free (and thus pirating music). I recommend Vorbis to everybody I know, but most of them refuse to even try it because it's not popular (or because they are hardcore MP3 zealots), which results in a circle (little people

...-config This look promising, if I could separate the config files for the different boot architectures Bios and UEFI. I have 2 different boot files in 2 different locations, but after startup they both refer to the tftproot/pxlinux.cfg/default config file. The DHCP Option 209 may solve this if the ZENworks tftp server support this option with different values depending on the architecture. ...week of 4/2/07) that triggers the problem. The current program version and scan engine version with virus definition files earlier than 3/27/07 do not trigger the problem. Regarding the Novell Client, we have found that only a default installation is needed to replicate the problem -- no need for Zenworks client, or even to log in. Also, moving the Novell Client to the bottom of the "provider order" list does not fix the problem. Although the timing of the problem's first appearance corresponds suspiciously with the release of Microsoft's patch KB925902, we have eliminated this pa...

Remote control to RDP opened session
Hello, We struggle with a strange problem trying to remotely contol RDP session opened to a XEN Fully virrualized XinXP guest. We built a xen XP desktop guest, equivalent to our normal physical desktops, we use novell network, and Zenworks to distribute applicatione etc.. The virtual XP guest behaves exactly the same way as the physical one, but we faced the following issue: users access their virtual workstations using RDP, the user session is initiated through RDP, when trying to take remote contlol of a user session (if the use...

Miserable read performance (factor ~60 too slow)
...d file (from the same or a different PC), suddenly the copying speeds up to "normal" speed. ifconfig does not show any collisions or errors, and as I said, copying via HTTP is extremely fast. The Linux installation is as barebones as I could make it, no X11, no firewall (for now), no ZENWorks or AppArmor or anything. I already once reinstalled everything from scratch, to no avail. Any ideas would be immensely appreciated, as I am seriously considering going back to Windows XP ;-) Best Regards, Arno Here is my smb.conf: [global] workgroup = MSHEIMNETZ printing =...

Graphic boot ...
Hi Peter and Group, First, thanks for great boot system. My goal is to create a boot process that is clean from any text message and shows simple graphics at startup. That graphic image will last until the X server is starting (with the same background, might be with different resolution). My reason is, that many end users prefer graphics on simple cryptic text messages. Messages will be

Samba & Group Policy environment
Excuse the pedestrian question but is anyone using Samba to push Group Policies in a large 1500 user environment? We are contemplating using Samba on Apple?s OSX server to manage our Wintel desktops through the pushing of Group Policies at our school district. At present we are using Zenworks to accomplish this and we have a somewhat stable solution. We would like to duplicate this with Samba. Apple has not been supportive on this front and we are looking for some group / organization that has experience with this. I'm not looking for specific help, just someone that has done th...

a few questions
Hi there. I'm new to the list and I have a few questions about Samba. I've built a few Win9x/Samba networks, but I've been asked to build a Win2000/Samba network and I have a few issues. First off, is there some way with Win2000 and Samba to get a workstation independant login? Right now I have to create the user on the 2000 box for them to be able to login. Second, what is the best
