POSIX problem
I am having trouble with creating a POSIXct object. If I create a variable
of class Date first out of the date part of my data, I am ok, but if I
just paste the date and time parts together and try and create the POSIXct
object, I have problems.
Here is a toy example created from the actual data which caused the
problem. I am using R 2.0.1 on Windows XP.

Timezone not recognised kludge
This is for Wine 1.1.28 compiled under a customised personal Linux based on Slackware.
When running winefile from a terminal, get a line:
"fixme:ntdll:find_reg_tz_info Can't find matching timezone information in the registry for bias -720, std (d/m/y): 5/04/2009, dlt (d/m/y): 27/09/2009"
Wine source: ../dlls/ntdll/time.c holds the function "find_reg_tz_info".

2007 New Zealand Open Source Awards
Anyone using CentOS to do open source things in New Zealand?
If so ... nominate yourself here for the 2007 New Zealand Open Source
Awards.
The best I can tell ... New Zealanders are the organizations / people
they want for nominees. The CentOS Project has no (to my knowledge)
developers in New Zealand, but if some of the organizations there are
using the product, maybe they can nominate themselves and CentOS for
awards in some of the categories.

Netbios alias -max names or chars
Hello all

This is my first post to Samba lists so I hope I have picked the correct
list. Please let me know if I haven't.

My question is what is the maximum amount of names or characters that can be
put on the "netbios aliases" line in the smb.conf. We have situation where
we potentially need to put up to 200 names on the line (big machines, one
name per application).

Cheers

New Zealand Maps
Can anyone point me to a map file for New Zealand Territorial Local
Authorities? Apologies if this is obvious, but I'm rather new to
mapping things, and after an R search and a general Google search I
can't see anything which seems quite right. I'm hoping that there is
a publicly available file which will do it...

Infinite recursion in S3 methods crashes R on windows (related to PR#8203?)
Hi,
Infinite recursion in S3 methods seem to crash R on Windows 2000 (R
terminating with the ("Rgui.exe has generated errors...") message,
rather than throwing an error. This happens with both Rgui and Rterm.
The following toy example triggers this:
myf <- function(x, ...)
  UseMethod("myf")
myf.default <- function(x, ...)
  myf(x)
myf(1)
...R crashes...
Which I

Re: URGENT: OCFS2 hang - 32 node cluster POC
Run:
# top
# vmstat 1
# iostat -x /dev/emcpowerb 1
The latter two you can save to a file. For top, just monitor cpu usage
and see if any process is hogging all of it.

New Zealand indications.conf
Hi Vic,
I hit that same problem! My SIP phones would sound okay when I made
changes to indications.conf but incoming calls in to my TE410P had their
own thing going on!
Have a look at the zaptel source files, there's one called zonedata.c.
You'll see the au settings... replace what's there with this:
{ 1, "au", "Australia", { 400, 200, 400, 2000 },

Asterisk Downunder (Australia & New Zealand)
It seems that there is considerable interest in Asterisk in both
Australia and New Zealand.
I am trying to gauge how much interest there would be in a get together
for Asterisk users & developers downunder.
I suggest you get back to me OFF list, so we don't flood the list.
Just let me know if

lmer and estimable
Hi everyone,
I'm using lmer and estimable (from packages lme4 and gmodels respectively) and have the disconcerting happening that when I run exactly the same code, I get different results! In checking this out by running the code 50x, it seems to be that answers may be randomly deviating around those which I get from another stats package (GenStat, using the linear mixed models functionality
