FTP-to-CVS instructions
...#39;s one section missing from the instructions for downloading a tarball via FTP and migrating it to cvs. I speak, of course, of the paragraph that explains that so many files end up missing this way that after three tries you will give up, rm -rf wine, do a full cvs -z 3 checkout wine, and kick youself hard for not just doing a full checkout in the first place because then you'd have had a finished build half an hour ago. -- Linux Now! .........Because friends don't let friends use Microsoft. phil stracchino :: alaric@babcom.com :: halmayne@sourceforge.net unix ronin...

Corrupted MAC on input
...ess (tried both hostname & ip). after a successful login, I launch an X app. Shortly thereafter I get: "Disconnecting: Corrupted MAC on input." I was not experiencing this problem w/3.7, but I cannot place full blame on 3.8, as it was working for a short while. So you're asking youself, "what's changed?" Well on both the client and server side, nothing.....on the network side....who knows, I have zero control over that. To the best of my knowledge they're using cisco all the way around. Not certain on model type. Below is a brief debug from the client side:...

The Debian Jessie packages dont have the 2 patches applied but you can find the patches here : http://downloads.van-belle.nl/samba4/samba-4.6.2/patches-apply-youself/   On the question: Why are these not applied in the jessie packages?  because at the time of makeing these these packages where not available. Why i havent applied them, well, i hope these are in samba 4.6.3 ( expected next week ) and If they are not in 4.6.3 i'll apply them.   Have fun wit...

AIC in glm.nb and glm(...family=negative.binomial(.))
Can anyone explain to me why the AIC values are so different when using glm.nb and glm with a negative.binomial family, from the MASS library? I'm using R 1.8.1 with Mac 0S 10.3.4. >library(MASS) > dfr <- data.frame(c=rnbinom(100,size=2,mu=rep(c(10,20,100,1000),rep(25,4))), + f=factor(rep(seq(1,4),rep(25,4)))) > AIC(nb1 <- glm.nb(c~f, data=dfr)) [1] 1047 >

openssl package possibly different in CentOS and RHEL
I've just had a problem on one of my x86_64 boxes with openssl package. I have an 32-bit only application that requires openssl libraries. When I attempted to install openssl.i686 (in addition to already present openssl.x86_64), it failed. The rpm complained about conflicting files (they were all manpages), and I needed to use --force option to install the thing. The good folks

tech question "sftp to ftponly accounts"
Sorry guys, I am not meant to write to this list disturbing developers with a silly end user question, but this a matter of huge importance for me. I am running ssh-server on RedHat 6.1. Before we introduced ssh we had a couple of ftponly accounts for people downloading data from our university database. It appears that they cannot access ftponly account from any windows sftp clients. However it

SEM raw moment matrix
Hello, I estimated a model using SEM package in R, which was fit to a raw moment matrix, and includes an intercept term. The only goodness of fit statistics that are output are Model Chisquare, AIC, AICc, BIC, CAIC, and normalized residuals. How can I get the other goodness of fit statistics, like adjusted goodness of fit, RMSEA, and R-squared? And how can I get the final value of the

Respected Sir/Madam, I am a research scholar of Department of Statistics, University Of Calcutta. I had downloaded the latest version of "BRugs", and installed it in R 2.15.1 both in 32 and 64 bits with the help of openBUGS 3.2.2. My problem is that one of the programmes which requires the package "BRugs" is giving me an error given below:

When I run this code from an R-script: ddd = 360 + round ( atan2(-u,-v) / d2r ) print(class(ddd)) print(ddd) ifelse ( ddd>360, ddd-360, ddd ) print(ddd) I get this output: [1] "numeric" [1] 461 213 238 249 251 [1] 461 213 238 249 251 Why does ifelse not change the 461 to 101? I recreated the vector ddd and ran the same ifelse code

syslinux 4.06pre11 issues
I've recently purchased an SSD with the goal of having a portable MS-Windows installation, something which Windows 8's "Windows to Go" feature allows (install to, and boot/run from, USB flash device). Housing the SSD in an external Zalman VE300 case allows presenting ISO files as hardware CD/DVD/BD drive with inserted medium. Having the ISO files present, it's tempting
