Now: Small Biz Robust Asterisk Solution - SBRAS
...iginally (and I'm talking nineties RAID) was
to give small businesses the chance at having low-cost centralized mass
storage. One volume made from multiple disks, with the unique ability
to keep either stripped or mirrored backups - fantastic. And it came as
a free add-on for Apple Servers (yippee!).
SCSI disks are cheap if the work you're doing is expensive. :-)
Ad.
PS SCSI is sooo yesterday. We're onto Serial ATA, and lot's of it.
We're just about to buy a 3.5TB SAN RAID array which is built from
Serial ATA's. And it's fast. Plus damn cheap. And Apple of course...

Yippee, that worked!? I was able to unmask (systemctl unmask
samba-ad-dc) and samba started.? wbinfo --ping-dc returns the new DC!?
Also get correct groups and users with wbinfo -g, wbinfo -u!
Now I hope I can finally get rid of that Server 2003 machine.
Is anyone working on getting that patch into th...

Logon Script to go down one folder?
Hi Folks,
Got Samba 3.0.7,1 running on FreeBSD--yippee!
One thing that I noticed is that when a Windows
user clicks on his folder named something like
'username', there are a bunch of files there
that he might 'accidently' delete:
.cshrc
.login
.login_conf
.mail_aliases
.mailrc
.profile
.rhosts
.shrc

How to use xl (in place of xm) with libvirt 1.0.2 and Xen 4.2.1 in Ubuntu 13.04?
...ation of
Ubuntu 13.04 that includes the following packages:
libvirt - version 1.0.2-0ubuntu9
xen-hypervisor-4.2-amd64 - version 4.2.1-0ubuntu1
Upon setting TOOLSTACK=xm in /etc/default/xen (as well as making a few
needed tweaks to /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp), libvirt and virt-manager worked
great. Yippee!
I guess that I should be happy that the xm toolstack still works with Xen
4.2.1 and quit while I'm ahead, but...
According to libvirt's documentation:
"libxl: Starting with Xen 4.2, the legacy XenD/xm toolstack is deprecated
in favor of libxl, also commonly called libxenlight. libv...

displaying intensity through opacity on an image
Dear colleagues,
I have an image which I can display in the greyscale using image. On this image, for some pixels, which I know, I want to display their activity based on a third measure. One way to do that would be to color these differently, and use an opacity measure to display the third measure. An example of what I am trying to do is at:

what''s wrong with engines
...g a lot with the rails
development I''m doing for the _core_ of my project, so I don''t want the
intellectual exercise of coding my own auth/login features.
I want to reuse something someone else has done.
If the solution for that is rails-engines, then YAY engines! Go plugins!
Yippee for components.
When the only alternative offered is to code it myself for the value of
having it fit my needs and the learning process involved, well then, the
argument is pretty weak.
So I guess, in the end, I was wrong at the start - I don''t really agree
with DHH''s post....

SIP improvements
Over the weekend, and greatly with the assistance of several patches, I've
gotten SIP support much farther advanced. For example, I now can handle
reinvites properly with the ATA-186 (yay!). Thanks again for all the help
from you guys who have been submitting SIP patches, especially Andre,
James, and Steven.

Segfault by asking for a folder?
I 'hg pull'ed and now my Dovecot segfaults when I select a particular

it's due to bad indexes.

Help with mysql_adapter.rb?
Hello all! I''m a newbie to Rails and I''m trying to get things working on
an old RH9 box. I was wondering if someone could help me troubleshoot a
mysql_adapter.rb error?
I set everything up and created a simple test app and then generated a
scaffold for it. When I try to go to the main controller and list the
data, I get the following error:

Half-Life + Wine (and other programs I suppose...) Recommendation!!!
Ive tried very hard to get Half-Life to run on my Linux box...and I have
finally managed to get it to work...the problem (the BIG problem) was
that I was trying to use an installed version of windows as the
basis of wine. It worked fine with most programs...but not Half-Life and
some other games...
My recommendation is that you dont use a preinstalled version of windows
as the basis of a wine

Suse 10.1 with samba servers 3.0.22 & 3.0.23rc3 only seen by Suse 10.1 samba client as cifs
...with samba client 3.0.22.
I have an OS/2 test system and a Windows 2000 test system.
The Windows 2000 system, with limited testing, has worked well with the
new samba server.
The OS/2 (Warp 4.52) system also seems to be working well with samba
3.0.23rc3, again with limited testing. (A qualified yippee)
I had one H___ of a time getting the Linux client to recognize the samba
shares. I could mount them, but they were unbrowseable. Attempting to
enter a mounted directory would almost freeze the system. After much
tinkering the samba settings via SWAT I was still nowhere.
Just for a lark, I tried...

Help please with tc and iptables mark
Hello list members,
Finaly I''m here after a week of trying to subscribe to this list... pfew...
Anyway... I have a rather strange problem with tc. I am trying to police the
ingress traffic into my network using the iptables MARK feature (in mangle
table, PREROUTING) but it seems that tc filters ignore this marks and they
don''t work at all for me. Let me explain a bit more in

Soekris and Asterisk
Has anyone on the list used a Soekris engineering PC as a TDM - Ethernet
bridge? For example something like a net4801 with a TE110p in it and then
using TDMoE to get it into a bigger server where the call processing proper
will occur.
Anyone know if it might handle a quadspan card ok? (no transcoding, just
pure PRI to TDMoE bridging).
