Diverging results with SPSS
Dear List,
I apologize in advance if this is silly. I tried to replicate an analysis I
did previously in SPSS using R, and was surprised to find different results.
So my question is: shouldn't the following SPSS syntax
REGRESSION
DEPENDENT INC89
/METHOD=ENTER hiedyrs experien SE93rec.
Yeld the same results of the following R command
modelB<-lm(INC89~HIEDYRS+EXPERIEN+SE93REC)
I assume the is some difference in some default options.Or maybe it was a
problem when the data was imported. After using the read.spss in the foreign
package, I got the following warning message:

shorewall add fails with IPSET=
...quot;$IPSET" -o $IPSET = ipset ]; then
+ if [ -z "$IPSET" -o "$IPSET" = "ipset" ]; then
IPSET=$(mywhich ipset)
[ -n "$IPSET" ] || fatal_error "The ipset utility cannot be located"
fi
After applying it, the above command yelds:
# shorewall add ppp:192.168.33.3 ptp
Host ppp:192.168.33.3 added to zone ptp
Maybe the small patch could be included in some new version.
Thank you.

HI
I'm a student in chemical engineering, and i have to implement an algoritm about FIVE PARAMETERS INTERPOLATION for a calibration curve (dose, optical density)
y = a + (c - a) /(1+ e[-b(x-m])
where
x = ln(analyte dose + 1)
y = the optical absorbance data
a = the curves top asymptote
b = the slope of the curve
c = the curves bottom asymptote
m = the curve X intercept

unlikely RHEL 3.0), that is, there will not be no windows clients nor

The shared filesystems will be used by a Courier-IMAP server and an
Apache httpd 2.0 server.
I always did these kind of stuff with NFS and I know it would work, but
recently someone told me maybe SMB would yeld better performance and
resilience in case of a cluster node failing over to the other one...
The point is, I don't know anything about this, and searching the web,
newsgroups and mailing list archives didn't bring much light into it.
I asked in the Courier-IMAP mailing list and the only...

calculating burst for TBF
...testing this statement from the tc-tbf(8) manpage:
"If your buffer is too small, packets may be dropped because more tokens arrive
per timer tick than fit in your bucket. The minimum buffer size can be
calculated by dividing the rate by HZ."
So, for a 200kbit rate on intel, this would yeld me a minimum burst of 2000bits, or
250 bytes.
I then do this:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 handle 1: root tbf latency 50ms burst 250b rate 200kbit
but all packets are dropped. I then rise burst to 300b, 400b, even 900b and it
is still not working. It only starts working when I raise it to 2000b. Which,...

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID
I'm not sure I understood the question. Uncommenting the lines or commenting them yelds
the same results, as long as "idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes" is kept in place. Commenting
it as well changes the ids to the 3 million range. Cleaning the caches did not affect the
results.

file retrieval problems
...These particular examples are from a simple dns class that deploys around
40 master zone files (source a directory recursively) on FreeBSD
6.2-RELEASE and puppet 0.23.2 from source on both client and server.
Enabling the dns class on other machines results in the same behaviour.
Other classes also yeld this error, although much less frequently, but
they are also serving less files.
On ns0, the error appears around once a puppetd run (which is every 5
minutes). There are 12 servers managed in total with 2 puppetmasterd''s.
Adding more puppetmasters seemed to do make no difference.

What are methods to debug domU when it hangs? Using xen 3.1 compiled from sources I could not manage to launch no domU. Fot instance, I run something like this:

samba & unix group permissions problems
Hi,
I'm having permissions problems connecting to a share when the gid of
the directory shared is not the primary group of the user connecting to it.
Maybe I faced it the wrong way, but I did read (and at least thought I
understood) the 'File, directory and share access controls' section of
the howto [0].
My users have either one or another 'primary group' (the one set in

CPU consumption by samba
...t it runs even slower (twice the loading time the the slowest
Windows available) and it hogs all the CPU. This last detail particularly
surprised me.
I attach the samba logs for just 0.5 seconds of high load (log level 5). I
tried all I could to optimize samba for this kind of load, but nothing yelded
better results than just the default and I don't know what else to try.
Has anyone had similar problems with applications that try to access massive
amounts of files (and with massive amounts of errors)?
