Extract DMI info when running PXELINUX
...e what dmidecode provides)
from within PXELINUX and, based on this information, selectively perform
an action?
What I'm trying to do is provide a method of flashing the BIOS of our HP
Linux workstations but different workstations use different methods of
updating the BIOSes. For example, the xw9300 uses 'rompaq' where the
xw8400 uses 'flashbin'. I have this working for the xw9300 workstations
but I don't want to rely on people selecting the correct option, I
rather parse 'Handle 0x0002' and choose automatically based on 'Product
Name'.

SMP kernels and top output
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the list. This question may have come up
before, but I couldn't find an answer to it by searching the centos
website. Could be I was using bad keywords for my search.
I have 3 HP xw9300 workstations (dual AMD Opteron 64-bit processors)
that I'm upgrading from RHEL3WS to CentOS 4.4. I've upgraded two
already, with one left to go. On the system with RHEL3WS, 'top' shows
statistics for each processor and what processor # each process is
running on.
On the systems run...

Just know that the pre-sale evaluation was of the nForce4, and didn't
take the nForce Pro 2200 and 2200+2050

SYSLINUX 3.09-pre2: release candidate
It appears that increasing the command line limit to 1023 caused the
.bss memory area to overflow. Unfortunately NASM didn't detect this as
it ought to have and therefore I didn't catch it as an error.
I have dropped the command line limit to 511 characters and released it
as 3.09-pre2. This is a release candidate; please test it out and if it
works I'll make it 3.09.

Consistent but intermittent DHCP problems after pxelinux loads kernel.
...ule out pxelinux/. I'd like to get a confirmation
that the use of pxelinux isn't a factor, as I'm not using 'keeppxe'.
I'm rolling out a couple hundred workstations, and using a pxelinux
menu-driven update of the SBIOS and to do the OS install (SuSE 9.3).
Hardware is HP xw9300 workstations, dual opteron, NVidia chipset and NIC.
The entire pxelinux-involved process works properly 100% of the
time, DHCP, kernel loading, memdisk... etc.
The systems are showing one very improper behaviour:
Some significant portion of the time the DHCP OFFER is never REQUEST'ed,
