Cleanup: Killing the old XSPF mailing list?
I mean this one: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/xspf/ It has 6 messages in total. The reason why I think we should kill it is that it potentially confuses people looking the XSPF mailing list. What do you think? Who has is able to such a cleanup task? Sebastian

How's XSPF support on Icecast if any?
I'm just checking. Icecast is supposed to export M3U playlists, as far as I know. I have to confess, I have never used the program, so get ready for lots of me saying ignorant crap. OK, ready? Does Icecast support anything to do with XSPF? If it does, does it do it by default? I mean, we are supposed to set the example and provide the user with our formats by default, right? What's the situation? -Ivo

XSPF file
I have figured out, that it is possible to get a xml file, if you add .xspf to the end of the stream url. This file includes the number of current listeners and max connections, what I don't want that this information goes public! How can I edit the information, which is displayed in the xsl file? Thanks for your support, Hans-Georg -- Diese E-Mail wurd...

Ok Thomas, I understood, it wasn't intention do like that. The xspf file associated to each station is instead real-time updated? Why not all the stations has got that file? Why stations like http://212.162.68.230/1.mp3 and others are not inside yp.xml? PS I'm sorry but my mail client automatically answers to the sender! 2012/9/25 R?cker Thomas <thomas.r...

xspf.xsl
Hi, Trying to use XSPF as playlist generator in Icecast I noticed the XSPF link in the admin pages doesn't work. I used the lastest SVN checkout. I think it's just the simple case of the xspf.xsl file not being copied to the installation directory on 'make install'. I copied the file to share/icecast...

Generation of M3U and XSPF
...config, and that it doesn't work? http://icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.3.2/icecast2_config_file.html#misc In that case, perhaps Icecast is picking up the server name from the http headers. Can you get your proxy to re-write the headers in the request? Otherwise, you could just generate local m3u/xspf files for each stream? - Leo On 28 February 2011 20:21, Sebastien Bordes <sebastien.bordes at webeo.fr>wrote: > Hello, > > I'm a new user of icecast which is a really cool software. > > I use it with the the http proxy module of apache httpd to do port > forwarding...

[admin] Creating an #xspf channel on Freenode
Hello! In order to be able to permanently "register" the #xspf channel I need to be approved as a Xiph.org contact, either a general or XSPF-specific one, not sure. I guess some Xiph person has gone through the process filling out http://freenode.net/group_contact_form.shtml before? Would be great to hear how you want me to do that or if there's any...

Anyone??
Hi Ivo, This program is basically a configurable automation system for Ices. You can (will be able to) use it to control what Ices plays and when. As such, it really doesn't have anything to do with playlist file formats such as XSPF, as all its data will be contained in a database. It may be desirable for the system to be able to import lists of tracks etc from existing playlist formats, and certainly XSPF should be supported if such a feature were implemented, but I'd think that that's where the relevance to XSPF...

The XSPF files are generated on the fly, yes. Beware they are NOT intended for automatic processing. They are for users to browse and click. Also the URLs for those XSPF files are NOT stable and may change at any time depending on wha...

Newbie Questions
...r I do have a few questions. How do I submit my station to the Icecast directory? I may have got it wrong but I understood that the application submitted it automatically? Or do I have to submit/create and XML file etc. The MP3 link works fine at http://digitalcarnage.myqnapcloud.com:8002 but the XSPF link returns: "Could not parse XSLT file" What have I missed here. I have had a good look around for this one so I'm guessing its a "no" but can you have multiple streams? through the same port/server? Finally, and this is finally. I'd like to get a better understandi...

Flash stream support
Sorry if you received already this email, but I didn't, so I'm trying again. Hi guys, a client interested on having flash streams from a server recommended Icecast. I never heard in the Flash community about it and in the documentation it doesn't mention anything about it or about the protocol flash uses (rtmp). I read that it is possible to extend it but probably it gets a bit too

Flash stream support
Not sure about what your client wants, but... I can confirm that *some* flash players can handle mp3 streams streamed by icecast or other stream engines - e.g. the XSPF Player : http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ . <xspf specific> For this one you just give the url of your mountpoint as parameter (song_url). It doesn't work if you pass it thru the xspf playlist. BTW, it doesn't read id3 tags in the stream, so you have to pass the title and so on ma...

disconnected mount point listed in the status page
...e latest icecast kh from the github (build 30-gfe06a77). But the problem I'm speaking about didn't solve. After a source disconnects the mount point remains listed in the status page with only these entries: Mount Point /stream M3U <http://ortodoxradio.ro:8000/stream.m3u>XSPF <http://ortodoxradio.ro:8000/stream.xspf> Current Listeners: 0 Current Song: This happens when the source is the old oddcast and also when the source is liquidsoap. Sometimes this doesn't happen at all. In the admin/list mountpoints it's listed. And if I want to kill the sourc...

base64 ALBUMART vorbiscomment (was Re: [ogg-dev] Ogg/Spots and Ogg/MNG)
...is tag. Nothing on the Web stays static. Your image is working today, maybe tomorrow too, but it has fewer chances of being there next week. Unless it's a site specifically dedicated to offer covers (and even then, they could break their own links occasionally), it's not a good approach. XSPF is doing the same approach. It makes sense for XSPF (most of its features are geared for online use), but no so much for a Vorbis file which will stay static and usually offline. -Ivo
