Submission from: (NULL) (86.159.235.204)
I was on leave and using a wifi internet connection in France and got connected,
launched R (2.10.1 on Windoze XPsp3) and tried to update my packages and got:
> chooseCRANmirror()
Error in m[, 1L] : incorrect number of dimensions
It took me a bit to realise that the message was coming up because the wifi
connection had dropped. I know it's a small issue but is it possible to produce
a more informative e...

Icecast2 / edcast Initial Setup Question
Hi,
I have setup Icecast2 and edcast (standalone) on an XPSP3 machine. The
basic setup works. I can speak into a microphone and hear my voice from
another PC on a LAN.
Now I want to "stream a file" such as an mp3 podcast I made or just a
song (mp3, acc etc.) or play a CD and don't know what to even search for
in the mail archives, forum o...

RE: VT-d "partial" success - passing DVB-S tuner to Windows DomU (based off previous thread of similar name!)Link to this message
Daniel,
I don''t know if you found a solution to your problem, I''m currently passing a DVB-S card through to my XPSP3 DomU with Mediaportal as the streaming app. Anyhow, I was having performance issues with my mpeg2 streams as well. I ended up doing the following on my Q6600:
xm vcpu-set Domain-0 3
xm sched-credit -d DomU -w 2048
With the Dom0 pinned to 3 cpus, and my DomU on the fourth, and the creditschedule...

Wine on Windows - wiki notes
...Windows is an idea of real-world usefulness, as newer versions
of Microsoft Windows increasingly fail to support apps Wine still
supports.
I've started a wiki page: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOnWindows
This covers my experiments with the three main POSIX layers (Cygwin,
MinGW and Interix) on XPsp3.
Various people have told me they've got it to work before (native
compilation and install on Windows), but I seem to be the one
gathering data :-) If anyone who's done it could please (a) put there
what they did with what versions of Wine and tools (b) check with
current Wine, that would...

Accessing shares with machine account credential...
...ive-directory/914815.htm
Seems to me that is only a 'client' setup (samba can authenticate with
machine account, i just use ntlm_auth and machine account in a radius
setup), but i don't understend why does not work:
1) i'm doing something wrong
2) is a client setup, but clients (XPsp3) activate this behaviour only
in AD, not in NT/Samba domains
3) samba does not support machine auth.
Please, help me. Thanks.

Moving from SAMBA to 2003 domain with XP SP# client machines roaming profiles stopped working
We have been directed to move off a SAMBA domain to a server 2003R2
domain. We run roaming profiles with samba and would like to continue
this on 2003R2. After bringing all the XPSP3 desktops into the 2003R2
domain, roaming profiles wont work. I'm not even trying to use the
SAMBA generated profiles. The error I get when logging on is:
*Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is
attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the...

All ?DC use ldap (openldap) as the backend, and every server have a

Also, i've setup WINS on both network, adding statically the records
from other one (at least, for the servers).
Client, mostly Windows XPsp3, but we are migrating to Win 7.
All client (on main and slave network) works as expected: i can join

XP-machines cannot join Samba PDC with tdbsam

The new Server runs with Debian_version 5.0.3 (Lenny), before the old

The current Samba-Version is 3.2.5-4lenny7.
When I try to join the Domain with a XPSP3-Workstation and get the
