[Bridge] MTU Question
I have a bridge that has gigabit interfaces. The machine in question has the fun job of being a Bridge, Firewall and SMB server. Both of the Gigabit interfaces are connected to workstations directly via Xover cable (well MDI-X to be exact). My question is, if I enable jumbo frames on the gigabit interfaces will that make any difference in overall transfer rate of the bridge? I was thinking it might because even though the NIC is enslaved, it IS the device that the workstations communicate to. But also i...

Using smbclient to copy back to FreeBSD got 814Kb/sec (48 Mb/min) as reported by smbclient. ---------------------------------...

Network Card Priority
Hi, Is it common for CentOS to give priority to one particular network card over a second card when activating on boot up? I have two NIC's in my machine... one is tied into my windows box with an internal IP using xover cable. The other is tied into my hub, which then leads out to the internet with a WAN IP. When I run a constant ping on both IP's from my windows box and watch the boot up phase of CentOS it gets to activating eth0 and I start getting a couple ping replies from the WAN IP as it completes acti...

ISDN and Asterisk
Hi all, I have a "Cologne Chip Designs GmbH ISDN network controller" and I want to terminate voip calls via this ISDN card. My question is: How I must to wire the ISDN equipment with my ISDN card? With normal cable or crossover? How I can to check if ISDN card is linked with ISDN equipment? In this moment I have 1:1 cable between ISDN's, the mISDN is installed and "misdn

sorting large msets

Alright. I'll keep an eye out for that in coming years. I've moved some queries (OVER/XOVER) to SQLite which is already a dependency of public-inbox (sometimes it needs to sort by article number, sometimes it sorts by timestamp).

squares instead of font characters since wine-0.9.13
do you know why when running wine-0.9.13 and all later versions of wine, finale displays squares instead of font characters and when running wine 0.9.12 everything displays ok? I have checked with wine versions that I have compiled from source on mandrake 10.0. The wine directory was left without any changes. thanks Piotr -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Netbios and Zeroconf?
Hi, a totally simple, but maybe totally useless question: is there some (small) possibility to theoretically turn off the dns and service resolution provided by samba/netbios and use zeroconf/dns-sd instead? I know it won't be much help for windows users, because they won't find the shares anymore, but maybe there'll be a zeroconf implementation on windows someday? greetings fabian

docs question
hello, i have a question about the documentation: oggenc --help says: -b, --bitrate Choose a nominal bitrate to encode at. Attempt to encode at a bitrate averaging this. Takes an argument in kbps. This uses the bitrate management engine, and is not recommended for most users. See -q, --quality for a
