Changing Root E-Mail address
Hi All,
I installed a new CentOS 5.5 box and I am getting a daily e-mail (I am not sure how this was triggered) with XNTPD logs, HTTP Error and Disk Space).
It is being sent to root at www.6colors.co which bounces, but I have a catch all so it does get to me.
How do I change where this e-mail is sent? I have tried in /etc/postfix/main.cd, master.cf, bounce.cf.default, etc and I don't see where this is set.
Can...

Accepting Time Server
If samba and xntpd are running, you're done! Samba is a time server.
Setting the smb.conf parameter "time server = yes" will cause Samba to
advertise itself as a time server in the browse list through nmbd.
Regardless of this setting, clients can still set their time with the "net
time" comm...

Slow Copy WinXX - Linux/Samba :-(
...copy FROM Nemesis to WinXX without any
problems -- I just can't do it in reverse. In the past I have sent 300+
Meg of data to the server with no problem. Now it stalls trying to copy
anything bigger than ~200k from Windoze to Linux. What should I check? I
don't think 'pptpd' or 'xntpd' should have anything to do with smb
(xntpd isn't even running - pptpd is the only new process running). (I
HAVEN'T REBOOTED MY LINUX MACHINE SINCE 1/19 - DO YOU THINK A REBOOT
MIGHT HELP?)
Anyway, for all of the others that have run into slow copy times from
WinXX to Linux/Samba, - P...

Apparent SNMP remote-root vulnerability.
I just had a remote root break-in on my machine (x86 running Red Hat Linux
5.0 with all the updates except for kernel-2.0.32-3) this morning at
06:03:28 EDT. From what I''ve been able to gather, it appears to have been
through snmpd, which I missed when I was weeding out unused daemons.
Sorry for the feeble message, but all I know (or at least strongly
suspect) is that there''s a

Time resolution on stored files?
I am using a Samba server not only for file sharing but also as a location
for backup copies of Windows based files.
I have tried using xcopy and a product call InSync from Dillobits software
and I think both are running into the same problem.
The problem is that these tools do not think that the time stamp on the
file stored on Samba is the same as the time stamp stored on Window (in my

Time just moved backwards
Hi there,
I got a daily cron (rdate to local time server) job wich adjusts time and
which constantly gives me headache.
Every day my dovecot suicides with:
"dovecot: Time just moved backwards by 11 seconds. This might cause a lot of
problems, so I'll just kill myself now."
Of course my onboard clock is constantly off by more than 5 secs.
I don't want
to abandon time

Time is off by an hour in my XEN vm
Hello,
I''m hiring a XEN virtual machine running Ubuntu at a hosting company.
My XEN virtual machine is hosted on a server which has some other VM''s
running on it. They all use ubuntu or debian. After a crash sometime
last week, the systemclock of my VM is off by an hour (it says 19:49,
although it''s 18:49 here now). The other VM''s don''t have

NFS/ZFS performance problems - txg_wait_open() deadlocks?
Hi.
System is snv_56 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440, zil_disable=1
We see many operation on nfs clients to that server really slow (like 90 seconds for unlink()).
It''s not a problem with network, there''s also plenty oc CPU available.
Storage isn''t saturated either.
First strange thing - normally on that server nfsd has about 1500-2500 number of threads.

ZFS Locking Up periodically
I''ve recently re-installed an X4500 running Nevada b109 and have been
experiencing ZFS lock ups regularly (perhaps once every 2-3 days).
The machine is a backup server and receives hourly ZFS snapshots from
another thumper - as such, the amount of zfs activity tends to be
reasonably high. After about 48 - 72 hours, the file system seems to lock
up and I''m unable to do anything
