What actually does cause 'windows slowly moving down + right
Hi, did the search and didn't find an answer. For months now most of my windows apps, running on a minima xmonad system move slowly down down down and always to the right side. I thought, maybe some .dlls needed. I thought, maybe it's that I don't use a full desktop environment and prefer a windows manager instead (xmonad) love to know what causes this. So, basically almost anything I open (running...

Apps segfaulting, problem with X?
Hello, I'm having big trouble getting wine to work. What I basically want to do is get steam to work, now it even fails to launch at all. It updates to 99% and then it segfaults. Other games has done this too (rollercoaster tycoon 2, starcraft 2). I followed the instructions on winehq, removed oriya/samyak fonts and I don't think I've done anything wrong - I've installed steam

X11partioning
Hi All, I am searching for a way in X11 to "partition" or "divide" the screen. For example the physical size of the screen may be 1920x1080 but what if I want 3 sections like A B C where A is treated as a screen or division by itself, then B and C the same way. Some subset of the screen. So the application running in space A does not affect the application B or C

X11 device windows are spawned with empty WM_NAME property
...who may wish to use the WM_NAME property to decide whether to float or tile the window. If I create a plot and then examine the window properties with xprop, I see something like the following: WM_NAME(STRING) = "R Graphics: Device 2 (ACTIVE)". However, by instructing my window manager (xmonad) to float all windows with a matching name, I can tell that when the window was created its WM_NAME property was empty. Is this behavior intended? Would be it be reasonable to instead create windows with a generic name like "R Graphics" prior to updating them with the device number and...

Syslinux on MacBook Pro?
Hi, Did anybody have success with running Syslinux on a MacBook Pro? I didn't manage, but I admittedly have no idea about UEFI. I've also heard that these machines deviate from the UEFI spec in some way... -- Thanks, Feri

[Bug 28763] New: Kernel Oops when displaying a large image
...-mentioned image and got a kernel oops; a few seconds later, a second oops occurred and froze the machine. After a reboot, I have been able to reproduce the bug: - load the above image in Iceweasel, - while it is loading (it takes some time), move the Iceweasel window and resize it. [I am using Xmonad, so this basically boils down to open new terminal windows and change the layout.] - some parts of the image become dark, you see a kernel oops in your terminal window, the image continues to load slowly, the second oops happens and then the screen becomes black. It always takes two oops to...
