Subject: Overflow in xlock
There appears to be an exploitable buffer overflow in xlock, the X based
screensaver/locker. Xlock is installed suid root on machines with
shadowed passwords. I have verified this on xlock versions on AIX 4.x and
Linux (exploit for Linux posted below), but I cannot determine what
version I was u...

linux problems
Hi,
I am facing two problems in Linux , if you can help me with
these.
1. I have to generate keyboard /mouse interrupt from my program
which xlock can recognize so that prompt will appear on it.
The interrupt will be generated from a program running at the
background. It is required in my project.
2. I have started a program in /usr/bin/startkde, which was
necessary at that time only, has the ownership of the user who
logged in.
I want th...

xscreensaver lock problem resolved!
...ho offered insight to why xscreensaver lock
wasn't working.
Just this morning I performed a last-minute search, based on some leads,
of possible pam configuration issues. One URL that popped up via google
was http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs//pam/FAQ
Q9 contained a lead to make `which xlock` setuid root (chmod +s). I did
this for `which screensaver`, rebooted, and authentication worked!
So that was an unexpected change, but documented from a reliable source.
I hope this maybe helps someone else who may hit some of the same
obstacles as I.
A good weekend to all, and stay tuned fo...

Not sure I replied to this but..
The solution was that I had a font directory X knew about but not fontconfig
:(

system death under oom - 3.7.9
Hello,
My system died last night apparently due to OOM conditions. Note that
I don't have any swap set up, but my understanding is that this is not
required. The full log is at: http://pastebin.com/YCYUXWvV. It was in
my messages, so I guess the system took a bit to die completely.
nouveau is somewhat implicated, as it is the first thing that hits an
allocation failure in nouveau_vm_create,

openssh PKCS#11 support
Hello All,
As I promised, I've completed and initial patch for openssh
PKCS#11 support. The same framework is used also by openvpn.
I want to help everyone who assisted during development.
This patch is based on the X.509 patch from
http://roumenpetrov.info/openssh/ written by Rumen Petrov,
supporting PKCS#11 without X.509 looks like a bad idea.
*So the first question is: What is the
