random effects
Hello
I have a data set with fixed and random effects, therefore I am using the lme function:
lm(y ~ xfixed, random=~1|xrandom, data)
After this I want to get the F-values for both the fixed and random predictors. I can easily get the F-value and df for the xfixed predictors (anova()), but how to get the F-value for the xrandom predictors?
Thanks in advance.

Building Compiz
...cipating its approval (or something close to it),
I'm implementing the functionality in a variety of window managers, including
Compiz.
Anyway, I got the source via git and I'm trying to build it. I'm not having much
luck. I'm running Ubuntu Dapper and have the latest version of XFixes according
to apt-get, but get this error when I try make:
cursor.o: In function `addCursor':/src/compiz/src/cursor.c:57: undefined
reference to `XFixesHideCursor'
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks!

Enhanced Zoom cursor in 0.7.6
Does Compiz-0.7.6 solve the problem with the 'waiting' cursor being
invisible when using the Enhanced Zoom plugin? I see mention of
'various bugfixes' but I couldn't find the appropriate bug to check
it's status. Thanks.

Locking Zoom, yet manipulating window?
I a rather dependent upon the Enhanched Zoom Desktop tool. It allows
me to zoom into a part of the screen and see it clearly, with the
zoomed part of the screen following the mouse. However, there are
times when I need the screen to remain where it is (not to pan with
the mouse), and the only way that I've found to do that is with the
"Toggle zoom area lock" option. When this option

As a workaround, i create a pointer barrier via xfixes, that works for now.

[fdo] getting a program between the user and X windows
...oing getting
something like this working for some programs. (Of course, Emacs is
the easiest one, so let's take rxvt or something like that as the
next easiest case and consider that.)
I'm not familiar with the code, but it seems like the RECORD and
XTest extensions are relevant, as is the XFIXES extension under
current development. Feedback from people who know these extensions
well would be very valuable.
