Just installed Wine and PureEdge so I can work with the US government's forms but am unable to open the form which is a file ending with .xfd extension. Can anyone shed some light on how to get PureEdge started? Using Ubuntu Gutsy and FF Any help is greatly appreciated. Scotty

I'm having an issue with workstation opening pdf's with firefox. I have the adobe plugin installed and enabled in firefox but firefox will only let me save the file. Under applications I have tried using the doc reader and adobe to associate pdf's with firefox with no luck. I am running firefox 3.0.4. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you -- Bo Lynch

Dear list, Following advice posted to this list a while back by Prof Ripley [1], I have been trying to draw a per mille character [2] in an axis label. This should give the correct character: plot(1:10, ylab = "\u2030") but all I get is '"S'. I'm running linux (FC5) and have fonts installed that have the correct character (viewed in the Gnome character map at least).

There's enough here to need a review; some of it probably needs backporting to stable-1.12. This probably breaks tests on Haiku or other platforms that have not been as on-the-ball about atomic CLOEXEC; feel free to report issues that arise, and I'll help come up with workarounds (even if we end up leaving a rare fd leak on less-capable systems). Matt asked if xz should really be a filter rather than a plugin. The answer is yes, of course it should be! That's been something in the todo file for a while. This is a major rewrite compared to my v1 series, where I've tried a lot harder to ensure that we still accommodate building on Haiku (although I have not actually yet fired up a Haiku VM to try it for myself).
