xfce in CentOS 5.1 "extras" repository
Hi, I am using CentOS 5.1 x86 (upgraded from 5.0), and am still using XFCE 4.4.1 from 5.0 "extras" repository. Just saw in XFCE site that they released 4.4.2. Any chance to see it in 5.1 "extras" repository?

Back to Xfce
Now that the basic server is up and running.? With Gnome via VNC (yuck), it is time to go back and figure out howto install Xfce without an Xfce group script.? So I am asking those with X64 Centos for some pointers.? Like where are the group scripts so maybe I can modify them for armhfp. I was reading: https://www.rootusers.com/how-to-install-xfce-gui-in-centos-7-linux/ Where the author talks about doing a minimal insta...

C7 Xfce group
I am working with Centos-arm which right now only has the gnome and kde desktops. I am spoiled with using Xfce on all my Fedora systems (MUCH longer battery life on my notebook, for example).? I like its simplicity. I see from messages here that mainline C7 does have the Xfce desktop. Can someone give me a list of rpms that make up the group, so I can try starting with the minimal image and see if I can...

Re: Mini-centOS -- static libraries, XFCE
...t's still statically linked Motif. But that leaves only one application that is not native. I don't leave Acrobat running, which really saves me. As far as GNOME, you do _not_ need to run GNOME session with nautilus and metacity (GNOME 2.x file/window) to get full GNOME compatibility. Run XFCE session with xffm and xfwm (XFCE file/window) and you'll see your footprint go way down. Shortly after Fedora Core 2 (what I call "RHCL4.0") was introduced with XFCE as a new, 3rd session/file/window standard option, which RHEL4 inherited its selection, I remember Alan Cox boasting h...

C6 and xfce
...uess is: you ran "startx".? That starts a session as the user that runs > "startx" Excuse me, but there's no need for insults. You know perfectly well that I'm a professional sysadmin, and that I've been here for years. It's a Netbook. I yum groupinstalled xfce, created an /etc/sysconfig/desktop, added a line in /etc/X11/prefdm to include xfce, copying one of the other lines, and rebooted. It came in in runlevel 5, no login. In other words, what I'd do with any other display manager. mark > > Instead, you should be booting the graphical ta...

Installing xfce on CentOS 5.3?
I would like to install xfce from the "extras" repo - but when I run: yum groupinstall XFCE-4.4 I get: Warning: Group XFCE-4.4 does not exist. Also 'yum grouplist' appears to only show the base groups ... Is there anything else I have to do to install xfce? Thanks James Pearson
