No module xennet found for kernel 2.6.18.8-xen
Hi all,
when I try to build an initial ramdisk with the option --with=xennet, I get
the following error
No module xennet found for kernel 2.6.18.8-xen
I looked at the /lib/modules/2.6.18.8-xen/kernel/drivers/xen and there is
no xennet module over there, which causes the problem.
How can I get the xennet module?
Thanks,
Luca

xennet: skb rides the rocket: 20 slots
Hi Ian,
Today i fired up an old VM with a bittorrent client, trying to download some torrents.
I seem to be hitting the unlikely case of "xennet: skb rides the rocket: xx slots" and this results in some dropped packets in domU, I don''t see any warnings in dom0.
I have added some extra info, but i don''t have enough knowledge if this could/should be prevented from happening ?

GPLPV xennet bsod when vcpu>15
Hello,
I installed the signed drivers from
http://wiki.univention.de/index.php?title=Installing-signed-GPLPV-drivers and
I ran into a BSOD on a Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise domU with a
large number of vcpu''s. The BSOD is related to xennet.sys.
After some trials I found that it runs fine up to 15 cores. From 16 or
more, the BSOD kicks in when booting the domU.
The hardware (4 times X7550) runs Xen version 4.1.2_05-1.1.1 (abuild@)
(gcc version 4.6.2 (SUSE Linux) (openSUSE 12.1) ).

[GPLPV] Xennet device issues on Win2k3 x32 DomU/Disabling just one PV device
Hi there.
I have been dealing with a conundrum off and on with a VPS of mine. Windows
2003 Standard 32 bit on a Xen HVM instance. Been trying to get the GPLPV
drivers working to help boost performance but always seem to run into one
major issue: The PV network device looks like it works but actual
connectivity is non-existant. Everything else in the GPLPV driver suite
works fine.

Xen over SuSE 10.3 - Can''t find drive to boot with...
...nning through much of its early setup. Eventually, however, it quits on "waiting for device" - that is to say, when it needs to find its drive partition and root. I have spent several person-days on this and believe my problem is that I have no xenblk. Indeed, I note that I do not have xennet, either, on my brand new, newly setup machine.
I looked everywhere for these files, re-installed far too many times, looked all over the net and have even downloaded a tar version from the Xen.org site and tried that too - still no xenblk or xennet.
I believe that for my install they ought to r...

unistalling gplpv from win7x64 gives BSOD
I have installed the 210 gplpv (debug), when I try to update them with
current gplpv I get a BSOD even so when I try to uninstall them.
Now I have made a bootentry that specifies NOGPLPV, what gives me a
bootable system after such a crash, I found (uninstalling the leftover
driver packages after getting bsod during uninstall of the main package)
that uninstalling the net driver leads to bsod. Now

No eth0 in DomU in FC5

''file:/root/fedora/fedora1.swap,sda2,w'']

i''ve also tried to set alias eth0 xennet in /etc/modprobe.conf in DomU but
to no avail.
I downloaded the fedora1.fc5.img from jailtime.org. I tried the same in FC4
and it worked like a charm. Maybe I''m missing something? - can someone help,
Thx in advance!

Help on setting up a PVM
I''m going to set up a PVM on xen-3.3.1 debian-amd64. I need advices
about the best methods to install a fresh debian on it (i.e. how to
choose the kernel for pvm) . I''ve installed xen from sources and only
have one xen kernel in /boot which I''m using for dom0; should I use
the same kernel for domUs?
There is any problem on use vcpus=2; the other vm is an hvm running

xennet and xenblk
...I am as green as grass and trying
to install Xen 3.1.0 on to a brand new machine running SuSE 10.3. I am
at the point where Xen starts to boot and quits on a "Waiting for
device......./dev/sda5" message. I believe that this may be related to
the fact that xennet and xenblk are missing, as far as I can tell, from
my machine. Mkinitrd complains that it can''t find them and I can''t
either! Worse, I can''t find anything on the internet to suggest where I
should get them, or where these modules come from! If someone could

trouble with xennet gplpv in win7x64 xen(xvm)3.4
I have some real problems with the xennet, when disable and try to
enable the nic I get a BSoD due to ndis.sys
Further more the system still fails to get an IP using dhcp.
The box is after a lot of cleanup, now on the 217 GPLPV.
I could provide additional details on demand next week.
(I''m unsure to get the machine earlier in my...

Many attempts later I just caught the driver that "caused" the crash,
xennet.sys. Which kinda makes sense, seeing as it''s using the network that
crashes it.
Boot NOGPLPV and it''s perfectly fine.
I''ve done this now on two different installs, the second was completely
updated, including SP2, taking several trips through windows updates, before

Xen networking experiment (with custom scripts and OpenVSwitch)
...a copy of /etc/xen/hotplugpath.sh and should be
put in /etc/xen/.
udev/xen-backend.rules is a modified version of the file supplied by

networking interfaces. As you can see, upon creation/deletion of a
network interface, the file /etc/xen/scripts/xennet is called. This
file can be found on github in the scripts directory.
Xennet is a replacement of vif-bridge. In the old scenario, udev
calls vif-setup, vif-setup calls vif-bridge, vif-bridge calls
vif-common and numerous other scripts. With xennet, I wanted to have one
script to take care of the n...
