Can't get PCI card visible in guest
...I'm obviously missing something, so any help (including ways to debug this!) would be greatly appreciated. Here's some more info: The guest is fully virtualized, so I'm assuming that nothing should need to be configured within the guest. On the host, the card shows up as: [root at xenhost bus]# lspci | grep Digium 07:01.0 Ethernet controller: Digium, Inc. Unknown device 8005 (rev 11) I think the pciback is set up properly. When I load the module, the /sys/bus/pci/drivers/pciback/ is created, and everything looks the way I think it should: [root at xenhost pciback]# pwd ; cat sl...

Xen on two node DRBD cluster with Pacemaker
Hi all, could somebody point me to what is considered a sound way to offer Xen guests on a two node DRBD cluster in combination with Pacemaker? I prefer block devices over images for the DomU''s. I understand that for live migration DRBD 8.3 is needed, but I''m not sure as to what kind of resource agents/technologies are advised (LVM,cLVM, ...) and what kind of DRBD config

Linux Dom0 <-> Solaris prepared Volume
Hi all heve been trying (in vain) to get a Solaris b44 DomU (dowloaded from Sun) running on a Linux Xenhost I followed exactly how, and it looked ok when it starts booting... But it never boots . adapted the configfile to boot with -v (that I can see at least something) and this is what I get ===SNIP=== root@Xen-VT02:/export/xc/xvm/solaris-b44# xm create solaris-b44-64.py -c Using config file "...

(no subject)
OK, so after several weeks of trying to get various versions of Xen running of various distributions, I''m starting to wonder if I''ve got a hardware compatibility problem and as the system never really boots with the Xen kernel I''ve got no log files to tell me where the problem is. I was wondering if there''s a way to compile from source with debug turned on,

windows XP Guest network doesn''t work
I have Xen 3.0.3 installed on RH EL5 via RedHat RPMs. I have a Win/XP Pro HVM and a Linux rh5 HVM. I can create both w/o a problem and can interact with the VNC based console for both VMs. The Linux VM interacts via DHCP, obtains an IP and seems to work fine on the network. The Win/XP VM doesn''t work with either DHCP or a static IP address assignment. I can see the virtual interfaces

Fw: F7 System crash with high network load
...i, i experienced it now a couple of time that my Dom0 will get unstable if i copy a lot of files over a gigabit link using rsync into the dom0. That happens even, when there is no workload on the system beside this process at all. How to reproduce : rsync -avuzP --delete --progress /home/user1 xenhost:/home/user1 the rsync will start and after a few minutes the remote host (xen) is no longer responding on the network. when i look at the console of the xen host, it prints millions of : [<c1005540>] syscall_call+0x7/0xb only a hard reset helps now .. environment : xen-libs-3.1.0-2.fc7...

iscsi throughput in DomU
Hey Guys, when starting a DomU we use iscsi as disks for our vms. When testing throughput I get half the troughput in contrast to tests on the Dom0 itself. For Example: I log in the target on the xenhost (Dom0) itself and get a troughput of 80mb/s. that''s ok Now im starting the VM (DomU) and the same target is now attached as xvdb. When doing troughput tests the speed is about 40mb/s. The DomU is paravirtualized linux. Im using xen 4.0.1 on debian squeeze. Is that an issue to the...

How do I create an initrd for a vm that is using lvm ?
Hi All, I am trying to create an initrd for a VM which uses LVM as its root partition. I am running the mkinitrd command a dom0 that also uses LVM - dom0''s volume group is "XenHost" while the VM''s volume group is "VG_VM10" (not sure if that matters). I issue the mkinitrd command from a chroot''d environment so I get the right /lib/modules & /etc/fstab - the VM''s / is used as the chroot base directory and the VM''s /boot is...

[Project Kronos] XAPI on Debian
...enCenter... it just says the connection was refused without any meaningful errors and nothing in the logs on either side. I can ping the Xen machine from another machine and I''ve configured the management interface on eth0, but it seems it still can''t connect. When I visit http://xenhost/ in a browser I just get a page not found message but it says it is generated by the Xapi server at the bottom off the page, so it seems to me that the service is running but the XMLRPC application is missing or something like that? Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? I''ve fo...

graphically accessing pv guest
Hi all, I''m trying to expand the screen resolution of my guest when using vnc. It appears I need to use the extra variable in my guest config file and xenfb. I pass it in like this: extra = ''xenfb.video=8,1024,768'' I can see this being passed to the kernel when it boots but it doesn''t change the vnc screen resolution. I also see this when I type ps -ef |

Partition vs disk images
I realize this might be one of those religious topics, but is there any good rule of thumb as to how to setup storage for a Xen domU? Without really knowing any better, I''m basically going to make a disk image of the OS and the create a ''data'' partition on my raid 5 volume for each virtual machine. This is for use at home, so in reality it probably doesn''t
