XBASE error under Wine
Hi. I'm migrating the system of a friend from Windows to Linux. He used a program made with xBase (programmed by him), and unfortunately isn't compatible with xHarbour. So I tried it with Wine, but I find these errors when I open the program. :(

Index Corruption xBase database
Hello,
I've been working with a xBase database (similar to dBase) in a multiuser
application. There are like 40 users working on the database on the same
time reading and like 10 writing information.
Sometimes the CDX files (Index Files) get corrupted and is it's necessary
to pack the tables (rebuild the indexes).
I have notice u...

coxph linear.predictors
I would like to be able to construct hazard rates (or unconditional death prob) for many subjects from a given survfit.
This will involve adjusting the ( n.event/n.risk)
with (coxph object )$linear.predictors
I must be having another silly day as I cannot reproduce the linear predictor:
fit <- coxph(Surv(futime, fustat) ~ age, data = ovarian)
fit$linear.predictors[1]

Wishlist: addition to FAQ 2.7
...a few circles around one particular issue (and
eventually resolving it) I have a suggestion to make:
Append the following to http://www.openssh.org/faq.html#2.7
"NOTE: In order to agent forwarding to work you need to have xauth
installed in the remote host. In Debian xauth is in 'xbase-clients'
package."
And about that "F" in "FAQ". I have confirmed that at least one
person other than me has had the same issue. :)

Wine Setup and Config File?
I have recently added the appropriate lines to my sources.list and done an
apt-get install wine, read the included documentation, and run winesetup.
Here are the results:

The Wine launcher is unable to find xmessage.
This launcher script relies heavily on finding this tool,
and without it, it will behave poorly.

Fwd: help building very old R
...help.
I am trying to build versions of R 1 for the rcheology package (just
arrived on CRAN).
For R prior to 1.5.0, I cannot configure support for tcl-tk.
I am building on Debian Woody (provided by Docker debian/eol) and have the
following packages installed:
r-base-dev tclx8.3-dev tk8.3-dev xvfb xbase-clients x-window-system-core
I download R source from http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-1 and run
./configure --with-tcl-tk=yes
--with-tcl-config=/usr/lib/tcl8.3/tclConfig.sh
--with-tk-config=/usr/lib/tk8.3/tkConfig.sh

Locking problems in 2.2.2
Hi,
I am using a small network of, say, 10 W2K workstations on which I run a
database application using shared table and index files on a Samba 2.2.2 server
(Suse Linux 7.2). The application was just ported from Clipper to XBase++. The
Clipper compiled app (it's a 16-bit DOS application) runs fine. The 32-bit XBase++
app produces corrupt index files and behaves eratically after several minutes
under normal workload. Of course I was blaming the XBase++ compiler first. I
then tried playing around with the locking set...

Time conversion from Win32 64bit FILETIME?
Windows-32 has a time structure called FILETIME, a 64-bit value
representing the number of 100-nanosecond intervals since January 1,
1601 (UTC). That is not a typo, the year is 1601.
Does anyone have a clue(or algorhithm)for how this is converted to
something a little more POSIX-like ?
Thank you,
Derek

...straightforward.
2. I have used the Rekall database development application with MySQL for
nearly a year under various permutations of Linux, most notably Debian and
Mandriva. Since it is not delivered with CentOS, I was forced to locate
and download the source. I also downloaded and compiled the xbase and
xbsql (auxiliary utilities for Xbase) packages with no problems
encountered, whatsoever.
3. Another favored application, the Pan Newsreader, has a dependency, the
gnet libraries, which I found as a RedHat RPM, on rpmfind.net. Then I
simply downloaded the latest Pan build, which has a number o...

FOX PRO 2.6 on SMB
Hello list
We have some Fox Pro apps shared on Samba server (I know FOX sucks) and
sometimes we need to recreate indexes, and we have to call all the users
and ask them to close their programs.
If we kill the user's smb process we got corrupted indexes...
here's the question : is there any way to force the used files by an smb
user process to close avoiding corruption, or perhaps make
