lm-sensors on Sun hardware
Hey guys and gals, Anyone have any experience with getting lm-sensors to run on Sun hardware? In particular Sunfire x2250 and x4170 I was running 5.3 on these boxes and sensors-detect would not find anything. I did a bit of research and as I recall thanks to this list discovered some bugs that were affecting me, so upgraded to 5.7. CPU temp sensors were then detected, but no fan sensors. At least on the x2250. The x4170 sti...

ask a question about ERST
Hi maintainer, I found below patch reverted part of erst header size check. This lead to mismatch with kernel upstream code and erst disabled on some machine like X4170 M3/X3-2. According to the ACPI spec 4.0 and 5.0, the Serialization Header Length should be the length of Serialization Header. After revert below patch, xen succeed with erst table init. So could this patch be reverted now to match acpi spec and kernel upstream? [root@zhenzhong2 xen-unstable.hg]#...

ZFS with STK raid card w battery
We have Sun STK RAID cards in our x4170 servers. These are battery backed with 256mb cache. What is the recommended ZFS configuration for these cards? Right now, I have created a one-to-one logical volume to disk mapping on the RAID card (one disk == one volume on RAID card). Then, I mirror them using ZFS. No hardware mirror. What I am...

bad iscsi performance after upgrade to CentOS 7.2
hi all, after i upgraded a physical server (SUN FIRE X4170) from CentOS 6.8 to 7.2 i am not able to get the same iSCSI read performance. the server is connected to HP P2000 Storage via 2 x 1GbE Ethernet. CentOS 6.8 gives me full read performance on raw iSCSI devices /dev/sdxx at 115MB/s. CentOS 7.2 allows only 90-100MB/s, read performance varies and is n...

Any idea of what can be done about Xen seemming to only service one Domain at the time under high Disk I/O load
...it seems that one DomU get done before the next DomU can start. It seems as if once disk I/O has started between a DomU and the Storage, then the hypervisor will continue servicing that DomU until the DomU has a pause in the data requests, before the hypervistor switches to the next DomU. HW: Sun x4170 Xen: 3.4.3 Dom0: CentOS release 5.5 (Final) Linux c6 2.6.18-194.el5xen #1 SMP Fri Apr 2 15:34:40 EDT 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux DomU: Same as Dom0. 1) What could be the problem? 2) What could I possibly do to troubleshoot this? 3) Anything I can do to configure Xen differentl...

zpool scrub results in pool deadlock
I just ran zpool scrub on an active pool on an x4170 running S10U7 with the latest patches and iostat immediately dropped to 0 for all the pool devices and all processes associated with that device where hard locked, e.g., kill -9 on a zpool status processes was ineffective. However, other zpool on the system, such as the root pool, continued to work...

X4540 no next-gen product?
While I understand everything at Oracle is "top secret" these days. Does anyone have any insight into a next-gen X4500 / X4540? Does some other Oracle / Sun partner make a comparable system that is fully supported by Oracle / Sun? http://www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/servers/previous-products/index.html What do X4500 / X4540 owners use if they''d like more
