[perf-discuss] help diagnosing system hang
Interresting... I wonder what differs between your system and mine. With my dirt-simple stress-test: server1# zpool create X25E c1t15d0 server1# zfs set sharenfs=rw X25E server1# chmod a+w /X25E server2# cd /net/server1/X25E server2# gtar zxf /var/tmp/emacs-22.3.tar.gz and a fully patched X42420 running Solaris 10 U7 I still see these errors: Jul 7 22:35:04 merope Error for Command: write(10) Error Level:...

Good SLOG devices?
Hi I''m running OpenSolaris 148 on a few boxes, and newer boxes are getting installed as we speak. What would you suggest for a good SLOG device? It seems some new PCI-E-based ones are hitting the market, but will those require special drivers? Cost is obviously alsoo an issue here.... ZFS for ISCSI ntfs backing store.
I''m looking to move our file storage from Windows to Opensolaris/zfs. The windows box will be connected through 10g for iscsi to the storage. The physical box is a sunfire x4240, single AMD 2435 processor, 16G ram, LSI 3801E HBA, ixgbe 10g card. I''m looking for suggestions

Supermicro SAS/SATA controllers?
The standard controller that has been recommended in the past is the AOC-SAT2-MV8 - an 8 port with a marvel chipset. There have been several mentions of LSI based controllers on the mailing lists and I''m wondering about them. One obvious difference is that the Marvel contoller is PCI-X and the LSI controllers are PCI-E. Supermicro have several LSI controllers. AOC-USASLP-L8i with the

Best 1.5TB drives for consumer RAID?
Which consumer-priced 1.5TB drives do people currently recommend? I had zero read/write/checksum errors so far in 2 years with my trusty old Western Digital WD7500AAKS drives, but now I want to upgrade to a new set of drives that are big, reliable and cheap. As of Jan 2010 it seems the price sweet spot is the 1.5TB drives. As I had a lot of success with Western Digital drives I thought I would
