SIP Softphone on Thinclient?
Is anyone doing this or has anyone tried? The thin clients are running
WindowsCE, a browser, and 300mhz. They are Wyse units.
I wonder if anyone has any practical advise or can recommend the best
phone or method to load a stable softphone on one of these boxes?
Thanks,
Steve Totaro

R on Thin Client with Win 2003
I'm having some fun with R on a Windows 2003 Server talking to a Wyse
Winterm running Thinstation Linux. The Winterm boots Linux from the
network and then runs rdesktop to a Dell 1750 server (dual 3G Xeon or
somesuch).
The first problem I noticed was that R (and the terminal) ground to a
near halt during demo(graphics). Further investigation showed that it
seem...

Is it a trick question?? Isn't the remote machine the only place that
you can fix ?? Setting TERM on the local machine won't magically make a
Wyse 60 understand VT220 control codes.
Why not wrap ssh with a shell script to do what you want?

Anyone out there know the THEOS OS
...get in touch with
anyone (UK based, ideally) with support experience of the THEOS operating
system.
We have one group of sites running a legacy system based on THEOS - an OS
that seems to have 'borrowed' the best parts of DOS, VMS, *NIX and Netware.
We are migrating some remote sites from Wyse Terminals, serial port muxes
and Kilostream (which is costing us an arm and a leg) to PC clients over
broadband. We have put the clients in place (desktop PCs with a client app -
easy) but need to understand how complex it is to setup the remote printing
- the support company involved reckons it...

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 Server on an i686 Dell/Wyse CX0 thin-client -
usbhid-dump was available as part of usbhid-utils, if I am not mistaken.

Re: Mini-centOS -- "Thin Clients" and lack of read-only boot

Most of this is due to the more "consumer" libraries designed for DOS7
"Chicago" Windows (9x/Me).
At the most they've created an ultra-light Win32 kernel with just enough
to RDesktop out of a EEPROM. But even when they did, companies like
Wyse and many others opted for a BSD kernel with Citrix code instead
of Microsoft's.
This is a totally different issue. Microsoft is trying to do what UNIX
X-Terminals, Workstations and other UNIX-based Thin Clients have done
for years. This isn't "innovative" it's "catchin...

Running R on Windows 2000 Terminal Services
Dear list,
My employer uses a Windows 2000 Terminal Server-based system for its
college-wide managed computer service - computers connect directly to
the WTS servers for their sessions, using a Citrix ICA client. When I
asked them to install R (Windows) on an older version of this service
the IT guys installed it but pulled it for performance issues. I am
trying to get them to try again but

Thin client system for X applications?
We're looking for what, years ago, I'd describe a s a X terminal --
something small, simple (and ideally cheap) that a user could display
X applications on. I guess they're now called thin clients, but they
now seem geared as seats on the web, and for this application we would
need to be able display the results of running a homebrewed X
application from a CentOS system, either

Syslinux + integrated flash disk
...t;, "Erasing NAND device". This does perhaps mean that the flash is
accessed through an IDE interface, it might also mean that the IDE driver is
not in the BIOS, this might be a problem?
My theories about the failure:
- BIOS not supporting syslinux (ie no IDE drivers? It's a custom WYSE
thin-client BIOS).
- I have to override a check in syslinux: "Total number of sectors not a
multiple of sectors per track". This was the case no matter if I kept the
original NTFS partition (just changing the type and reformatting to FAT16),
or if I deleted it and created a new 5 MB p...

Thank you - I have included the capture, and attached it here. USB is
new to me. I am a good sysadmin, but terrible programmer.
I was able to use the usbhid-dump utility using -e stream, the last
octet will report the state of the detected power (1/2 for ignition on,
3 for ignition off, 0 for powered-off). 4th one seems to be voltage, and
the 5th and 6th I believe are timers:

CentOS 6.0: panic installing i386 on old Acer Desktop

from my KVM. I've got some 5.x and 6.0 (with cr updates) and windows
units available on my homegroannetwork LAN if there's a way to do it
over a network.
I've got some old serial cables (and various null modem ones and/or
adapters) and Wyse-60 terminals but I don't even know yet if I can boot
this with output to a serial port.
I'll be checking that.
If someone has figured out how to capture the output in my situation
during initial system install, I'm all "ears".
The system still boots the old CentOS 4.8 (firs...

Question on LDAP+Samba+PDC
Hello everyone.
Well, I have been working very hard lately, trying to get a server up to
act as our Samba PDC with LDAP. So far, everything seems to be working
well. I've been able to get samba 2.2.8 and openldap 2.0.27 installed with
no problems. I've setup my config files (ldap.conf, slapd.conf, smb.conf)
as well as added some initial entries to the LDAP directory.
I've been

Libspeex splitting attempt
Hi,
Can you please confirm/give any sample on the "tick" value to be passed
to jitter_buffer_init ( int tick ) ?
Is this: Tick = GetTickCount() ?
Thanks
