Problem with WRT54GL router
I have a curious problem with an old WRT54GL router, which I use as a WiFi access point on my LAN: Internet->ADSL modem->CentOS-7 computer->WRT54GL router The router has always had a slight problem of losing connection every so often - it used to be every couple of days, but recently it has become much more often. My cure was al...

Attaching LinkSys WRT54GL to CentOS machine
I have a LinkSys WRT54GL router, which I would like to attach to my CentOS-5.6 server, to set up a LAN 192.168.2.* . The server is attached to the internet through a Billion modem/router which has a single ethernet outlet. The instructions for the LinkSys router assume that it is being attached directly to an ADSL modem....

OT: Linksys router misbehaviour
I'm running a Linksys WRT54GL router from my CentOS-7 home server. Every now and then (maybe once every 2 days) the router's WiFi cuts out, and I've found no way to solve this except to disconnect the power from the router, wait 10 seconds and then re-connect. This always works. The router is running under dd-wrt. My q...

Samsung CLP-325W network connection?
Anyone got this working over a LAN under CentOS? The instructions claim it is easy to connect after pressing the WPS button on printer and router. Sadly, I don't see a WPS button on my Linksys WRT54GL router. When I press the WPS button on the printer the WiFi icon flashes, but I don't see any attempt to connect in /var/log/messages on my CentOS-5.5 server. Any advice or suggestions gratefully received. -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842...

PCI ethernet card for CentOS
I need to get a second ethernet card for my HP Proliant CentOS server, to attach a LinkSys WRT54GL router to. I see that there are many Realtek RTL8169S gigabit cards going for a song on eBay. Is anyone using one of these under CentOS? Do they work OK? (I used to have a couple of Realtek cards - not gigabit - and they worked fine.) Or does anyone have a strong recommendation for other cards? A...

Problem with AT&T VPN
I'm running a CentOS-5.6 server, which in general runs perfectly. My setting is possibly a little unusual: ADSL -> Billion 5200S RC modem/router -> CentOS-5.6 HP MicroServer -> Linksys WRT54GL router . My daughter is just visiting me, and she has to contact her job using AT&T VPN on her laptop under Windows XP. Unfortunately this does not work on my system when connected to the Linksys router by WiFi or ethernet. More precisely, the IBM Lotus "sametime" application does n...

Router for SOHO network - hardware considerations
...e RAM and two network interfaces (one out, one in), where I could install a very stripped-down CentOS, and then just forget about it. So far, I've googled a bit, and I've found two things: 1) Pyramid Soekris boards, where I can put something like Pyramid Linux on it. And 2) The Linksys WRT54GL, for which there are Linux firmwares like OpenWRT and DD-WRT. Is there anything you could especially recommend for this job? (I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty, BTW :oD) Cheers, Niki

2 questions on CentOS firewall
...h in from outside. But for some reason I cannot ping the same address from outside. (I can ping it internally.) Why is this? I'm not sure if the problem lies with the router or the server? There does not seem to be any explicit rule on either to allow ICMP packets through. (2) I have a Linksys WRT54GL WiFi router attached to the server, to allow access to the internet from laptops. This works fine. But I was surprised to find that when I turn OFF the firewall on the server this stops access to the internet on laptops. (I didn't test to see if re-booting the laptop would solve this.) Can disa...

Distro ready out of the box
hi all, I''m writing not for technical problems but for a simple question. Do You know if there is a distro which is ready for traffic shaping etc. ''out of the box''? I mean a distro which does not require patching the kernel and/or iptables and/or installing from source etc. and gives the user most of the tools needed (imq, ipp2p, l7filter and so on). many thanks

Auto-provisioining Polycom 430 wth dd-wrt router

I understand that I need to set bootp option 66 to point to the tftp/ftp/http server. In fact, I have this working completely with the ISC dhcp server...

Fwd: tinc questions
Hi, I have some questions about tinc. " *Automatic full mesh routing*Regardless of how you set up the tinc daemons to connect to each other, VPN traffic is always (if possible) sent directly to the destination, without going through intermediate hops. " 1- To have client to client direct connection and don't have traffic through the server should I have port forward at the NAT? Or

...a NetBSD system. It mostly works but sometimes I have weird issues. As far as I can tell they are usually NAT issues. I have a Cisco SPA-2102 with two phone numbers installed. I have NAT Mapping and NAT Keepalive enabled. No STUN server. Both are using 5060. This is behind an ADSL through a WRT54GL with no special port handling. The server is 11.15.1. My sip.conf includes this: [general] context=unauthenticated allowguest=yes udpbindaddr=0.0.0.0 nat=force_rport,comedia srvlookup=yes qualify=yes All of this works fine. It also works fine with the few clients that I have connected. Howeve...

Fwd: tinc questions
...created a web ui for tomato firmware, which is available for select routers with the broadcom chipset. The "shibby" tomato firmware supports many newer routers, including ARM variants; Netgear R7000, Asus RT-68U etc. http://tomato.groov.pl/ I even made one that will run on the ancient wrt54gl. http://files.lancethepants.com/Firmware/MIPSR1/Toastman%207636%20%2B%20Tinc1.1.pre11/ > 3- Any release date of tinc 2.0 version? Tinc 1.1 final still has not been released, and there is no definite release date set. AFAIK, there hasn't been any (major) work on 2.0. Probably safe to say...

snom subscriptions issue on WRT (2)
Nothing better, I tried some solutions, but nothing is changed. After some minutes, or after an asterisk reload , it loses all my snom subscriptions... I have an asterisk 1.2.1 on my WRT54GL , all is ok, and I use SNOM 320 as sip phones. When they boot up the subscriptions are ok, and asterisk can see their subscriptions, but when I run some of the commands above, they lose the subscriptions on asterisk. The problem is THAT: -- Reloading module 'pbx_config.so' (Text...

wifi
I'd like to survey those on-list who actually use wifi SIP handsets. What type of wifi access point do you use? Are you happy with it? I presently use some older Linksys WAP54G APs. I'd like to replace these but in doing so I'd like to be moving in a VOIP friendly direction. I've yet to find a handset that I'd buy in quantity, but my last round of access points lasted >4
