Re: Train wreck getting render_to_string to work from foreign controller [SOLVED]
Just for collective knowledge as I have found no info on this problem
online:
I solved this by adding an .html.erb file for the "missing template", since
by design or bug Rails3 will not find or render another controllers view (in
my experience). Then in the new html.erb file, I just put <%= render
"comparisons/display" %> because the views *are* able to find templates

CD burning issues & questions
I have been having some strange results trying to burn CDs under
CentOS. I don't think they are hardware related because I have had
some success, in fact most of this usually works.
I use k3b for most of my CD and DVD writing - it seems to work fairly
well (well, except for wrecking my installation a few weeks ago when
it crashed my installation and I had to reinstall to get it back, but
that's old news).
Yesterday, of my work desktop (32-bit), I tried to burn a CD with k3b.
The system hung as soon as I clicked on the start button in the burn
menu. I did not want ano...

GIMP 2.4 on CentOS 5?
...some changes in version 2.4, and it's also
been around for quite some time. There are quite some functions in 2.4
that I'd like to use. As far as I understand, building GIMP 2.4 would
involve some changes to [base] packages, like upgrading GTK.
Anyone built GIMP 2.4 successfully without wrecking the system? I guess
I'd take an SRPM from FC8 from rpm.pbone.net, and then start from here.
Only I prefer to ask first.
Cheers from the cloudy South of France,
Niki

Bind Issues
I'm running bind in a chroot environment. It seems that since the Redhat
snafu which wrecked bind (yes, I had caching nameserver running as well
but not anymore) I have been having problem with my slave nameservers
retrieving updates from the master.
Looking at the zone records, some are owned by root, some are owned by
named. I'm now confused as to what the ownership should be a...

How to keep the same class?

Why not matrix? What am I missing here? Is there a way to keep the same
class?
The reason for the question is that I want to implement a k-step ahead
prediction for my own routines and R wrecks does not seem to like [1,] as
shown below.

Samba Authentication wrecking my head [ADS]
Ive recently installed three servers with RHEL5u5. After some messing on the original, I got samba working with ADS authentication. I then went and got it working so that users could log in using their domain name & password to the box. I got this working with both no restriction, and ADS group restriction. I have left it on no restriction wheil I get these systems up and running.
I then

Expire plugin - where to start?
...nary, not a shell
script. It may be a direct replacement AFAIK, but it may not.
I've been reading the old mailing list about problems with 1.2 and this
reinforces the feeling that the wiki is out-of-sync.
Am I being paranoid? Possibly, but I don't want to be posting a "Help! I've
wrecked my config and deleted all my friend's mail" type message. (Okay, I'd
take a backup first). So could some kind person point me at the latest
documentation?
Thanks, Frank.

Unexpected behaviour of apply()
...=10, ncol=10)
mat[1,3] <- mat[3,1] <- TRUE
----
Issuing apply(mat, 1, indexes) returns a 10-cell list, as expected.
Now if I do:
----
mat[1,3] <- mat[3,1] <- FALSE
apply(mat, 1, indexes)
----
I would expect a 10-cell list with integer(0) in each cell - instead I get
integer(0), which wrecks my further process.
Is there a simple way to get the result I expect (and the only consistent
one, IMHO) ?
Thanks by advance for your help,

Hello All,
installing these laptops went ok, but indeed, they shutdown on logon.
When coming back up, I get a bios warning about temperature.
On my first attempt on installing Nvidia driver, I wrecked the laptop.
To be continued.
greetings, Johan

If this "european characters" are inside the track information, then
OggEnc v1.0.2 repleced them by an "#". The Filename is fine, but the
tag is always wrecked.
Encoding with Lame is Okay. Those charakters are well done.
With oggenc I have to repair all tracks with easytag. :-(

TOO MANY ERRORS
Ok, I've tried wine with about 10 different aplications and it always
returns SOME kind of error... and it closes... the only one I can run
without ANY problem is DiabloII.... not even half life runs on wine...
Using wineX didn't solve any problem.. in fact I think it it even
harder...
Any idea why wine won't work with virtually no game at all???
thanks a lot

[newbie]: Samba as a server for Win98 PCs
...I am planning is worth spending the time.
I have 12 Win98 PCs with public IPs connected to the Internet. I want:
1) Turn one of the PCs to a linux box with samba.
2) That the linux PC provides login access to the other PCs. (I want to
eliminate the possibility of the users log in a Win98 PC and wreck the
file-system and software).
3) That the linux PC controls all hard disks (12) and allocates quotas for each
users.
4) That the linux PC have a share with all software (Windows 98 software)
needed in the network.
5) That Samba is only seen by the 12 PCs and close for the rest the world.
6) That...

info an ARES/WAREZ
Hello,
I''m blocking/limiting succesfully all P2P activity on our corporate
network using linux/ipp2p/connmark.
That is, until now. For my colleagues have found a new p2p client to
wreck havoc on our DSL line: ARES/WAREZ It seems to be a gnuttela
clone, but different enouph for ipp2p not to identify it.
I played around a bit with tcpflow with no success of finding
something that could be taken as a positivie signature in its headers.
Is there any info of this new p2p...

Force SATA1 on AOC-SAT2-MV8
I have a supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 and am having some issues getting drives to work. From what I can tell, my cables are to long to use with SATA2. I got some drives to work by jumpering them down to sata1, but other drives I can''t jumper without opening the case and voiding the drive warranty. Does anyone know if there is a system setting to drop it back to SATA1? I use zfs on a raid2 if

Re: Reintroduce "allocate entire disk" checkbox on virt-manager
..., but the automatic disk creation is very handy and much less error
prone.
As it is now, if using a fallocate-less filesystem (eg: ZFS) and *not*
selecting to create a custom disk, you risk waiting minutes or hours for
libvirt to fully allocate the image by writing 0s to the disk file. This
can wreck havok on SSDs and other eundurance-limited medium.

Local GID conflicted with domain GID. Samba can't connect to shares

Any advice as to what I can do to salvage this? I have restarted samba,

I know my OS and samba are extremely out of date. They are like the
because I do not want to wreck anything, like I just did...
Thanks,
