That *really* would have been an order of magnitude worse. mark

All in one good for CentOS
...tion before, but this is slightly different - is there a reasonably good, cheap all-in-one scanner-copier-printer-fax device that works well with Linux, CentOS in particular? (Last time I asked about a scanner only, although it was in the context of a Canon MP160, which I never did get to work and wound up taking back.) No ringback even though progressinband=yes is set
Any ideas on why callers who call into my customer's SIP trunk are not hearing a ringback tone? I had this on one other asterisk system, and wound up needing to set progressinband=yes in the SIP trunk config. I have set this on the current system & restarted asterisk, but to no avail. I am using: AsteriskNOW distro Asterisk build is 1.6 from AsteriskNOW repository: asterisk16-1.6.2.17.2-1_centos5 FreePBX 2.9 Any help would be greatly...

How to 'apply' on multiple arguments?
...but it could accept multiple arguments? For example, I have the following matrix. x=matrix(1:6,nr=2) y=matrix(1:6,nr=2) I want to find a function that can be used to compute the linear regression for each pair of rows in the two matrices? multiple_apply(x,y,1,function(u,v){lm(u ~ v)} That is, I wound like something like the above to compute the following. Can somebody let me know if there is such an command in R? lm(x[1,]~y[1,]) lm(x[2,]~y[2,]) Regards, Peng

Also Microsoft has ben mentioned as possible buyer of Red Hat, that would be much worse too. So, let's not be too pe...

migration question: "imap server directory"
In prepping our IMAP migration to Dovecot, I've hit upon a small issue: the "IMAP server directory" which Thunderbird users have set in the "advanced" prefs. Our old IMAP server seems to set your current directory to ~. This wound up causing users to set their IMAP server directory to "/home/<user>/mail/" so that their mailboxes would be found: --> A104 LIST "/home/dp/mail/" "%" * LIST (\NoSelect) "/" /home/dp/mail/ * LIST (\NoInferiors \UnMarked) "/" /home/...

CentOS Images on AWS with partitions on /dev/xvda1 are awkwared to resize
...reciate the pointer. I can try to work with that to integrate command line based deployment and get this option. So you're working from the command line tools in the EPEL 'cloud-init' package, not the AWS GUI? Because when I tried expanding the size of the base disk image in the GUI, I wound up with an an 8 Gig default /dev/xvda1 on a 20 Gig /dev/xvda. That's why I was looking at "how do I resize this thing safel?" Unfortunately, it doesn't help a lot with what I already have built, but could be useful going forward.

C7 and spoofed MAC address
Got a problem: a user's workstation froze. He wound up rebooting, without calling me in first, so I dunno. But, and this is a show-stopper, when it came up, it came up with the firmware MAC, not the spoofed one. In /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcg-eth0, I've got the spoofed MAC address, and a UUID. In the grub.conf, I've got net.ifnames=0...

script/generate scaffold pluralizes class names
...e it and tweak it. So I did a "script/generate scaffold foo" and it generated new views and controllers with scaffolding in them, but now the controllers and views are all pluralized: my user controller became users, my tag controller became tags, etc. So looking at my file tree I wound up with two files names tag_controller.rb & tags_controller.rb - inside the first line says "TagsController" not "TagController" like when rails does it. Is this a bug? Why would the generate script pluralize things just because I want the scaffolding code inserted?...

dahdi-channels.conf vs. chan_dahdi.conf
...no dial tone, which file should I be editing? * Likewise (and almost certainly related) if dahdi_cfg shows the channels, but "dahdi show channels" only shows my T1 spans, which file should I be editing? Could someone point me to some sample analog configs? Most of my searches have wound me up with GUI folks, and I'm just doing good ol-fashioned hand editing on an Ubuntu system. How Is Administrator Treated?
...here; I think the basic problem is my lack of understanding of how the Administrator account is treated. Ordinary user accounts work fine as far as I can see, but then, ordinary users shouldn't be able to do a bunch of things, anyway. First: I created an Administrator account in Linux, and it wound up (here) with a UID/GID of 604. That's just an ordinary user ID, so what makes it special as far as the domain is concerned? Should the Administrator account have a UID/GID of 0? If I try to run USRMGR.EXE or SRVMGR.EXE I can see things, but can't change them ("Access is denied")...

Right but I was wondering about the fact that this makes XDP_PASS much slower than processing skbs without XDP, as truesize is huge so we'll quickly run out of rmem space. When XDP is used to fight DOS attacks, why isn't this a concern? -- MST

CentOS 6 and crypttab
Folks, I have an issue: I've gotten that drive that I posted about the other day encrypted, and things were looking good... until there was a problem with another RAID attached to the box, and I wound up having to reboot. What had been /dev/sdb came up as /dev/sdc. So... is there any way other than using /dev/disk/by-uuid/<uUUID> as the second field in /etc/crypttab to deal with this possibility? mark
