Reassign values based on multiple conditions
Hi all,
I have a simple data frame of three columns - one of numbers (really a
categorical variable), one of dates and one of data.
Imagine:
collar date data
1 01/01/2013 x
2 02/01/2013 y
3 04/01/2013 z
4 04/01/2013 a
5 07/01/2013 b
The 'collar' is a GPS collar that's been worn by an animal for a certain
amount of time, and then may have been worn by a different animal after

How can I draw bars
I need to make a graphic to show problems on different parts of
chromosomes (think of a graphic showing the number of frayed threads
as colors along different parts of a worn out rope). I want to draw
bars going from left to right across a page and color different parts
of the bars in different shades. Each graphic will need to have
several bars of different lenghts corresponding to the

Please help(urgent) - How to simulate transactional data for reliability/survival analysis
Hi friends,
I haven't done such a simulation before and any help would be greatly appreciated. I need your guidance.
I need to simulate end to end data for Reliability/survival analysis of a Pump ,with correlation in place, that is at 'Transactional level' or at the granularity of time-minutes, where each observation is a reading captured via Pump's sensors each minute.

What does "klist" say? And can you run "kinit" to ensure you have a
valid ticket? One of my

What would be the best tutorial cum reference doc for ZFS
as used on Illumos?
I''ve seen a few tutorials written by people who obviously are very
action oriented; afterwards you find you have worn your keyboard down a
bit and not learned a lot at all, at least not in the sense of
understanding what zfs is and what it does and why things are the way
they are.
I''m looking for something that would make me afterwards understand what,

Changing UPS to a bigger APC 1500 1000WA, what driver?
I've drug it as far under the table as I can get it on a 30% heart.
Yeah, I'm getting on, I'll be 85 in about 2 weeks. Heart surgury will be
scheduled in the next few days to replace a worn out, leaky aortic
valve. Piece if cake if my veins are big enough.
So what driver do I use with a Smart-UPS_1500???
Never mind it was found and accessed by the bootup! upsc my usp reports:

.htaccess file
Hello,
My home system on a DSL line is getting worn out by bad behavior robots.
Awhile back, I created a .htaccess file that block countries by IP blocks.
Its 2MB in size.
I have been running Linux since Slackware 1.0 and moved to Redhat around
2.0. I started after running a BBS using a doorway for newsgroups. Been
hooked ever since.
So, today, I tried following the directions for

Broke ggplot...
It appears I broke ggplot in my script, but that maybe it is because the caffeine has worn off or maybe it is late in the day. I thought I was beginning to understand ggplot, but I have encountered a silly little issue.
For some reason the following does not produce a histogram with fill due to the Person's characteristics:

nobody:nobody
Hey Y'all,
For the last week or more I've been trying to get NFS and OpenLDAP to
play nice with each other. I've pretty much worn the Google machine out
trying to find a solution. I've found several that said "Solved" but
none of those solutions solved my nobody:nobody problem.
In the past I've used NFS in conjunction with NIS to share home
directories from my

btrfs on low end and high end FLASH
How well suited is btrfs to low-end and high-end FLASH devices?
Paraphrasing from a thread elsewhere:
FLASH can be categorised into two classes, which have extremely
different characteristics:
(a) the low-end (USB, SDHC, CF, cheap ATA SSD);
and (b) the high-end (SAS, PCIe, NAS, expensive ATA SSD).
My own experience is that the low end (a) can have erase blocks as large
as 4MBytes or more

Group=????
Good Day list,
I have worn out my google toolbar today looking for a way to
determine which group an incoming call belong to, but have not been very

I am trying to figure a way to determine which group the
incoming call that I just answered is part of so I can do some

FW: desperate help needed - Samba and security = share
I posted this on the Fedora users list this morning, where it was suggested I
post it here. I'm hoping someone will help me. I know that this is an old and
probably worn out topic but I need a quick workable solution before the old
server dies, which hopefully won't involve me redesigning everything and
having to update 120+ client PCs:
Many years ago I built a server on Fedora 8
