Extremly slow (3-4k/s) on Win clients while Linux clients work fine
Hi, I've migrated a Win2k fileserver to Samba 3.0.33 on Gentoo (Kernel 2.6.28). While the Linux clients work fine, I get the absolutely worst transferrates on Win (XP Prof + Vista) like 3-4k/s (compared to ~10MB/s on Linux). When copying larger files on Windows, they start this slow, but the transfer becomes faster after some time like 2Mbit/s via WLAN which would be acceptable. I've

Problems in sending emails
Hello, I''m new in the list. I''ve installed Mandrake MNF and it works fine but I''ve a problem in sending emails. Small text mails can go out but bigger ones, with attachements, have problems. My network is formed by Windows workstations and only the firewall is a Linux box. The first simptom is the reaching of ISP''s server time out and then my mail client goes in

Compile help for Solaris 10 x86, samba 3.0.28a deficient?
Hi all, I've got an ongoing battle with samba shipped with Sun Solaris 10 in it's current form (Samba version 3.0.28a) not wanting to talk to my OpenLDAP master correctly. Essentially, under certain conditions, this behaviour is observed, in the log.smbd: [2008/10/11 08:54:03, 1, pid=13610] libsmb/cliconnect.c:(1451) Error connecting to 192.168.117.150 (Connection refused)

What is going on now?
Hi, I read the news about Tom Steps quit. I use shorewall for some days now and as many people I ike it very much. I asked Tom in a personal mail, what could be done to continue the project and he told me I had to subscribe to this list. My ideas where: a) Mirroring the site b) I would like to study the code and help c) I am studying computer science and I could ask some teachers and friends

I quit.
It is with regret that I announce that Shorewall development and support is officially ended. Sean''s post has finally driven it home to me that in the long term, trying to support a project like Shorewall is impossible for a person of my personality and age. Sean -- please believe that this isn''t about you or your post -- your post was just the proverbial straw on this old
